I have read about this and I want to know if it's true? That you can be a teacher if you just have a degree in your area, for example science, but no education degree. Instead of doing an education degree you can do some training thing with the dept of education. I don't remember exactly, I just want to know if that's true? You can teach without an education degree?

In the past, you could get a Diploma of Education to go along with your degree and then you could teach in that area (i.e. if you did a Maths degree, you could get a DipEd and teach Maths). But now those are being phased out and you need a Master of Education.
