This year I have to choose a university that I will attend starting next year. I want to study a Bachelor of Education so I can become a teacher. I strongly prefer a Bachelor of Education that allows me to specialise as both an Early Childhood Teacher and a Primary Teacher.

In Sydney, the universities that offer a Bachelor of Education for both Early Childhood and Primary are:

1. Australian Catholic University – Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary)

2. Macquarie University – Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education)(Birth to 12)

3. The University of Notre Dame – Bachelor of Education (Birth to Twelve Years)

In choosing the right university for me, I'm looking for:
- quality of teaching
- good, friendly, approachable and fair teachers who are happy and passionate about teaching and helping students
- long and good practicums spread over the four years in both Early Childhood and Primary settings
- good name/reputation within the education and teaching field and with the employers
- well-organised/well-structured courses, degree and university overall
- good and up to date courses and degree that prepare students for the reality of a job in the field and for the classroom
- well-organised and helpful university employees, who are happy and prompt to help and support students

I don't care about overall prestige outside the industry. I don't care about the size of the campus nor about how many clubs there are. I don't care about the social life of the university. I just want the education that I get to be the best I can get, to prepare me as well as possible for the reality of a job within the field.

I would not mind attending a religious/Catholic university if it can offer me the above.

I know that I will be paying for this degree, it will take me four years of study (or possibly six if the laws change) to become a teacher and I am a very hard-working person so I really want to choose a university that I will not regret later on. I know that I can transfer to another university but I would rather choose the right university from the start. I also know that university will not matter as much after graduation but it will matter for my very first job in the teaching field and also I want those four years to be as good as possible.

So, this brings me to my questions.

Which university or universities in Sydney is/are the best in the education/teaching field, taking into account the above? Which one/ones stand out?

I am open to consider other universities than those listed by me above as well, if they stand out in the education/teaching field.

I read that the University of Sydney has good and well-prepared teachers but they are not happy/passionate about teaching and helping students. Also, they don't have a degree that offers both Early Childhood and Primary specialisation within one bachelor degree.

Macquarie University also seems to have quite a lot of negative reviews but I do not know if those reviews also extend to the Education degree they have.

I have read that Australian Catholic University graduates seem to find jobs within the education/teaching field fast after graduation. Also read that apparently, high school teachers advise their graduates who wish to become teachers to choose Australian Catholic University.

I also have read that the University of Notre Dame graduates seem to be very happy with the teaching standards in the university.

I do not know that much about other universities in Sydney.

And more importantly I do not know how/which one to choose.

Any information, help or advice will be greatly appreciated!
If there are any teacher students or teachers on here who have any information or advice they can offer me, please do so, your help is very much needed!

Thank you all in advance!

Okay.

1. Quality of Teaching:
Both Macquarie Uni and Notre Dame provide great quality services in the teaching area. Macquarie is the 2nd best university in Australia for childhood teaching, followed by Notre Dame. However, Notre Dame beats Macquarie by quite a lot when dealing with primary teaching.

2. Friendly, Passionate and Approachable:
Definitely Notre Dame.

3. Long and Good Practical Stuff:
Notre Dame will give you about 30 weeks of experience, and Macquarie will give you shorter experience but much more spread out.

4. Good name/Reputation with Education:
They are about the same unless you decide to teach in a Catholic school, where they'll favour Notre Dame.

5. Well-Organised:
Both are organised.

6. Up-to-date Courses:
Notre Dame.

7. Helpful University Employees:
Definitely Notre Dame.

That's my intake on it. I can't answer for ACU.
