What is the difference between BSc and specialised B degrees at UTS?

Hi,

I am wanting to do biomedical science next year at UTS. The options are to apply for a B Biomedical or a BSc and either specify or not specify my majors. Obviously there are huge differences in the UAI needed, but what about your final qualifications? And what about future job prospects. Your subjects are exactly the same if you choose right through the course.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: What is the difference between BSc and specialised B degrees at UTS?

at the uts open day i asked the exact same question, im in the same boat.

BSc science degree (flexible) lets you tailor your subjects and choose 2nd and 3rd years electives depending on your interests after your first year. at the end of your degree you will have a degree in a BSc science.
Choosing a major eg, biomed, biotech on your application or even after your first year will end up with your degree being a BCs of Biomedical, biotechnology etc.

Bsc of Science is quite new to UTS and therefore not as well known to employers compared to the specialist degree in your chosen field.
hope it helps!
