Does a double degree like BA/BSc leave less units for electives after you choose the two majors? That's what I've heard, but from what I've calculated I would actually have more units for electives compared to a single degree... (I've based this on Macquarie and the credit point information in their handbook.) Do I understand this correctly?

Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Science
Minimum number of credit points for the degree: 96
Minimum number of credit points designated as science: 42
Arts major: 24
Science major: 24

The two majors take up 48 credit points out of a total 96.
There's another 48 remaining credit points for electives.
(18 of those 48 need to be additional science units, and 30 can be other units.)

Bachelor of Science
Minimum number of credit points for the degree: 69
Minimum number of credit points designated as Science: 42
Science major: 24

The major takes up 24 credit points out of a total 69.
There's 45 remaining credit points for electives.
(21 of those 45 need to be additional science units, and 24 can be other units.)

 Does this make sense or have I missed something?

Look
You're going to get a lot of electives either way
With two generalist degrees like those
