So just got a 89 atar , which i kind of knew i was on track for. Anyways, my aim was to try and bridge into commerce or com/law or economics in either usyd or unsw. However, i was also considering going to maq for appliead finance/economics.

Is it very hard to bridge from arts into these courses as I would have hundreds of kids aiming to do the same thing?
Could i make it in a applied finance course even though I have only studied general mathematics in high school?
any help is appreciated! thankyou:)

you can make it to any course as long as you have the required atar cut off, HSC courses are assumed knowledge not required knowledge.

would it be better though to be in UNSW or USYD?

however USYD would be better for finance related courses.

You could probably get into UNSW economics with your atar + the bonus points they provide.
