I'll be going to uni for the first time this year so idk. What determines where you sit in lectures and does it last for the whole semester?

You just walk in and sit lol

If you're late then you might have trouble sitting in your ideal spot or whatever but as far as I know there isn't really any sort of seating plan at any uni

you walk into the room/lecture theater and then u sit

you can move around the room as much as you like through out the semester

you can sit in the corner by yourself or sit with your friends or around people and make new friends

really up to you

or you don't have to go

In all seriousness, where you sit and what you do (as long as it's quiet) doesn't matter to anyone else. You can just sit anywhere and do whatever you want.

"wherever you want"?

wat

Nah, people like sitting in the same spot so you may get a few like 'wtf' looks if one week you decide to sit in the spot where this massive group of people have sat for the last few weeks

Nah doesn't matter no-one has their names on a seat or anything. At the start of any class it's all fair game. If someone asked me to move just because they always sat in that seat I would tell them to go sit somewhere else.

Do lots of people sit at the front? I don't want to be the only one :(

And I believe you :) I think it's cool to watch the lectures from home but I feel like the majority of people who skip lectures never bother to properly catch up on the work and stuff. They can't all be as cool as you Queen.

Well the first day is weird

it's kinda like everyone turns up an hour early (wtf right) and then sits one seat apart so everyone's evenly dispersed around the room

But yeah most people end up sitting in the middle-back seat range. Although I like the middle-back cos it provides me more psychological comfort, these days I am personally more inclined to sit at the front because the people at the back are usually the ones who are there for no reason and don't shut the fuck up. And you can't hear the lecturer.

Ugh annoys the fuck outta me. That's actually why I stopped going.

On the recordings everything is more clear/loud, you can pause and replay if you didn't catch something and speed up the video cos some lecturers are slow af, so you end up watching it in 1.5 hrs instead of 2 hrs.
And as a bonus sometimes the lecturer asks people questions so if ur not there he can't pick you to answer lol #swag

pro-tip: sit with the smart people :p

Lecture buddies are a thing, so keep in mind that socialising will be a part of your decision on where to sit - i.e. if you have a group of friends, sit with them. Don't be like "nah i'll sit at the front" and be a ditcher

My lecture theatre (all 4 of mine are in the same room that my orientation was in) is pretty small so I hope people aren't too loud :/

And about the friend thing Square, I'll probs sit at the front from the get-go so when I make friends they're most likely people who want to do well and won't talk through everything too.

Queen, did you make use of that study room for people in The Academy when you were at UWS? Do people even go there?

Yeah I was there like 24/7 lol good hideaway spot that no one else can access without the card

idk about ur campus but I was at Ctown

It's like, you're listening to the lecture and stuff, but nothing is actually being absorbed and staying there

What courses have online lectures? Most??

Tbh I found lectures during bridging course more important than tutorials. But maybe it depends on the lecturer and tutorial teacher?
