    Bus/Law at Macquarie or UTS?

    Hi everyone,

I am deciding between Macquarie University and UTS for a commerce/law degree.
I did not take the LAT so I could not apply for UNSW, and I did not receive an offer from Sydney uni (98.5 ATAR).

    Any recommendations??

(Also considering starting a commerce degree at UNSW or Syd and then transferring second year if possible)

    Thank you.

I think UTS has a wider range of electives (or at least more that appealed to me) than Macquarie University. I was going to transfer into business/law last year - so i had to think about this.

I might be a little stupid with tech but i find UTS student admin a lot easier to understand as opposed to eStudent, where all your course requirements are clearly set out so you don't miss any course requirements which may hinder graduation/completion. Bottom line is research your course reqs haha.

You have the option of building in PLT into your UTS degree (if you choose that you want to practice). Whereas, I do not believe MQ has this option.

Also take into consideration distance, what sort of campus you'd like to study in etc. They appear to be fairly different universities.

OR you could just transfer like you said, after completing a year of study. Mind you, its fairly competitive. But completing 100-level units, a transfer may be achievable.

If it were me, I would probably go to UTS (location and stuff) but both are perfectly valid choices imo so just do which is more convenient/appeals most to you.

They are both equal in prestige. UTS has PLT but Macq doesn't, but it doesn't matter as much as you won't be practicing straight away. Which Uni is closer? I would choose it based on that.

Re: Bus/Law at Macquarie or UTS?

Well let's just say, I have now gone to both and yeah - one of the main reasons for my transfer was based on location (also length of time to complete degree (i'm an accountant these days) - because I transferred out of law at MQ).

apparently it's easier to transfer into UNSW law from UTS, you could go to UTS and try that
