    Applying through VTAC and UAC

Family might move to Melbourne next year and they've given me the freedom to choose whether to study in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra. I'm going to apply through UAC for Syd and Can and through VTAC for Mel. Am I allowed to do this? Or would it cause problems with universities and preferences? Cheers.

No problems, it's commonly done by students applying for Medicine through 4-5 TACs.
You'll get a place offer each from UAC and VTAC.

No problem at all. You can even apply through QTAC in Queensland also if you're interested. A lot of students do this then take the best offer they get. Spreading your chips as they say.

Another question on this topic... Since you are allowed 5 preferences for UAC, does this mean I could apply for 5 UAC courses and then 5 Qtac and 5Vtac, or does it have to be a sum of 5 to my name?

UAC QTAC VTAC are three separate applications costing you around $40 each. Each one gives you its own number of prefs.

(We used to be able to put QLD uni courses into the UAC application's prefs, but that's not the same as applying via QTAC and I'm not sure if you can still do that).

UTas being the only uni there they don't need a TAC to sort out preferencing between unis. You apply directly through UTas website, no TAC fee.

Course fees to you should be the same for same course of study, living costs can be very different though.
