| i'm bacccck! | Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree University of Southern QLD offers Tertiary Preparation Program, which garauntees you a place in your chosen undergraduate program upon successful completion of TPP. http://www.usq.edu.au/ltsu/tpp/default.htm However, it is only offered externally. All of your study materials will be couriered to you from USQ. TPP is offered in Semesters 1,2 and 3. I completed TPP early this year, just before Semester 1 started, and I was able to get a place in the B.Ed program via direct entry application. I strongly recommend the TPP program - the staff are wonderful, and the study materials are excellent. *please excuse my spelling errors, lol, for some weird reason, I cannot spell today.*

29 Oct 2008, 10:47 AM ![]() | Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree I am currently using a alternative pathway to uni. (BA Nursing, BA Midwifery, BA nursing/BA science) I completed certificate 3 and 4 in aged care at high distinction level. Which is enough for entry in my chosen profession in almost every uni in the country. but i wanted to do my BA externally so i opted to complete a "Open Universities" subject via UNISA called SSk10 to improve my knowledge and skills surrounding university study. From this i chose 1st CDU BA nursing, 2nd CDU BA nursing/science(double degree) 3rd UNISA nursing & 4th UNISA Midwifery, all of these being external. I hope after 1yr of study with high marks to sit the UMAT and apply for BA med. I don't find out till 15th jan 6pm where i get in. but most people i have spoken to have feel i will get my 1st choice. Just thought my story might help some of you planning to use alternative pathways to uni. |

Yesterday, 1:29 PM ![]() | Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree Hey, I'm a year 10 student and what I would like to do is go to an acting college such as NIDA and study my hsc there part-time. Since I want to only get into things such as acting, doing make-up, etc and childcare if that doesn't work out I don't really see the point in doing 2 more years of putting up with a bunch of old people yelling at me and like studying all this information everyday that I probably won't use when I already know exactly what I want to do with my life and want to get started. What do you guys reccomend? Do you think it'd be best to finish this year, do the hsc in tafe as a part-time student and pursue my acting and other stuff in my free time or is there a university of some sort that specialises in acting and also helps you complete the hsc part-time? |

16 Apr 2009, 7:18 PM ![]() | Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree hello im currently enrolled into the course Pharmaceutical Sciences @ RMIT University. It was a course that i wanted to get into since start of the year. Im planning to do an honours degree and become a professional medical researcher or a pharmacologist. I was just wondering, on the other hand, what are the alternative pathways to get into Pharmacy with my course either transferring direct or after completion. I'm just curious. Hope to get a detailed explanation. |

Alternative ways to get into pharmacy courses inlcude: 1) A successful STAT/UMAT score 2) A very good tertiary record (high GPA) in at least one year of full-time study at Bachelor’s degree level (or part-time equivalent). Your UAI will not considered if you have done a tertiary record equivalent to one full-time year or more. Here are a list of Australian institutions that have official pharmacy courses. I advise you to check out the recommended entry details for each one. Charles Sturt University – Wagga Wagga and Orange, New South Wales Charles Darwin University — Darwin, Northern Territory Curtin University of Technology – Perth, Western Australia James Cook University – Townsville, Queensland Griffith University - Gold Coast, Queensland La Trobe University – Bendigo, Victoria Monash University – Parkville, Victoria (formerly the Victorian College of Pharmacy) University of Queensland – Brisbane, Queensland Queensland University of Technology - Brisbane, Queensland University of South Australia – Adelaide, South Australia University of Sydney – Sydney, New South Wales University of Tasmania – Hobart, Tasmania I hope I answered your question. If you have any inquiries, then I will be happy to assist you.

thankyou very much for your explanation. It was very helpful. So are you trying to say if i do very good in my course this year, i can transfer to pharmacy? ... the thing is would my one year of study go to waste. I mean, in the bachelor of pharmacy degree pharmaceutical sciences is the major study. I hope i said this in an understandable manner. Dont want to confuse you. If i do want to get into Pharmacy lets say, im thinking of Monash University @ Parkville, closest place i can go. Would you have any idea of their selection and transfers? | |
