Arts psychology/science psychology (1 Viewer)

Hey there ppl- i just realised that the degree im interested in is not what i thought it was. Technically the BALLB- this psychology/law degree is in fact part of a Bachelor of Arts rather than Science psychology.

What is the difference? that is- between arts psychology and science psychology...are they both credited by the Australian psychological society....

Theyre both accreditted, and the difference lies in your B Arts or B Sci part, whereby you:

General Requirements

1. Minimum number of credit points: 116
2. Minimum number of credit points which satisfy the requirements for the degree of Bachelor: 68
3. Maximum number of credit points at 100 level: 30
4. Minimum number of credit points in units with a LAW prefix: 74
5. Minimum number of credit points in units with a non-LAW prefix: 33
6. and completion of other specific requirements as set out in the Schedule of Undergraduate Programs

vs.

General Requirements

1. Minimum number of credit points: 68
2. Maximum number of credit points at 100 level: 30
3. Minimum number of credit points in units at 200 level or above designated in the Schedule of Undergraduate Units as science units: 34
4. Minimum number of credit points in units at 300 level or above designated in the Schedule of Undergraduate Units as science units: 18
5. and completion of other specific requirements as set out in the Schedule of Undergraduate Programs

The BA is more humanities based, whereas the BSc is more structured towards a science path.

But as far as i know, both use the same Psych units.

thanx heaps for that. lol unfortunatly i have n idea what credit points are or what all those umbers mean...perhaps i should b a little more specific- i guess im asking about the content...how can one b more humanities based and the other scientific when they teach the same thing?

im sure thats a silly question- but its one id luv an answer too

The first one is for the BA-Psych LLB and the second one is a sample BSc-Psych and the third one is the BA-Psych

Basically, as you can see, the core Psych units are exactly the same, thats because theyre offered by the division of Psychology, rather than the the Science department or the Arts department.

So in essence the only thing that differs are your specialisations and electives outside of the core subjects. (Core subjects are the compulsory units/subjects which you have to do to complete the degree).

Credit Point
Each unit of study is worth a specified number of credit
points. The credit point value of a unit reflects the
amount of work required in the unit. Each credit point in
a half-year unit would indicate that you should expect to
spend about 3 hours each week on that unit (including
class contact hours).

theres another thread explaining the difference between science and arts psyche, look it up

the only differnece between the two is that with science-psyche ur electives are sciencey based whereas with arts-psyche u can choose whatever the hell u want (as long as u meet the pre requisites for each subject.. usually u can't get into law and business subjects, there are only a few business subjects u can do like marketing101 as an example)

educational psychology

however because ur doing law... it would restrict the amount of electives u'de have...

the best person on BOS to speak to would be Maryjane (skittled's girlfriend) she does arts-psyche/law private message her, i havnt seen her post in a while so ask skittled lol

oh n asylum is right they are BOTH APS accredited
