I understand that you can gain work experience at the studios through subjects like "Learning Through Community Service" and have it credited toward your degree. That's all I know about the comm arts, sorry. But seeing there's TV studios on campus, i'd assume they'd be pretty good facilities.

Today, 5:12 PM ![]() | Re: bachelor of communications media arts a production 2010 Yeah, there is a good production studio at the Kingswood Campus. Unfortunately, that is pretty much off limits until 4th year. For the majority of the degree, you'll be using slightly better than consumer level equipment. Sure, you can make some good stuff with this, but you certainly wont be learning any technical skills that will impress future employers. The degree itself is too broad, and only one unit is dedicated to each area of production/post production, so you wont develop any in depth skills in any particular area. Jack of all trades, master of none. Not to mention the first year of the degree is a complete waste of time. Don't waste your time doing this kind of stuff at uni. Check out the courses offered at Metroscreen. If you have any questions feel free to ask. |

Today, 5:12 PM ![]() | Re: bachelor of communications media arts a production 2010 Seriously, don't do this course. I should know, I done it. Do this instead: Full Time Courses 1/6 of the time, 1/6 of the cost, you get to work in a HD multicam studio, you'll have something decent to put in your show reel, and you will get to network with a lot of people in the industry. |

19 Nov 2009, 11:46 AM ![]() | Re: bachelor of communications media arts a production 2010 UTS and CSU are better universities to go to for such fields as communication - journalism, media production etc. Better reputations, more facilities available and the lecturers are from reputable media positions. Hate to burst all your bubbles but its reality.
