I tried uploading an animated gif as my avatar, and it said that I couldn't have animated pictures as my avatar. Other people have animated pictures though. Why can't I have one?

Upload it to a file sharing site - or maybe even deviantART. Then just paste the link into the section - works better since it often shrinks the file size upon uploading it.

No! Lol, I dunno the issue then - maybe the server might just have a problem or just doesn't like your IP adress.
