Just a curious question. Do we get separate showers or do we have to shower together? Because that would be a bit disturbing. And hows the life there anyways?

Basic info, but a decent intro nonetheless.

Ouch. Im sorry to hear that. but your still doing the hsc arnt you? How can they base your school marks only and not hsc? o.O Thats weird. But you can always sign up with the sponsered undergraduate scheme thingo in uni later i guess.

Thats whats im nervous about, you apply early during year 12 only to be not accepted later or not getting the correct atar for the degree at adfa later in the year. Suckkksss.

    are you for real?

why is it wrong to base it on your school marks?

plus the atar's required for ADFA are secondary to being a good prospective officer - atar is merely a standard.

and why are you nervous? you apply early, go through all the testing...and at the end of the day, if you get rec'd, it's just your hsc to do - just like any other uni course....so what's there to be nervous about?

I have my specialist testing in this upcoming week and have been looking around on forums and blogs for any available information. So far i know about the computer test with the two joysticks and a 25Q maths test in 20 minutes (or something along those lines). I would appreciate any knowledge regarding the maths topic and/or any other helpful information. Thankss

The joysick test(which also includes a fun memory test) is for specialist testing, so for pilots, etc.. The maths they ask you is like year 10 standard questions. mostly high-ish level algebra. It's the 60 question(i think it was 60...) general ability questions which really test your skill. Then you have a psych, med and assesment session(which is like a job interview mixed with a test of ADF knowledge) the Officer selection board.

i failed to get in because apparently i'm crazy. something about antisocialness. so they expect you to go to parties, etc... then answer NO for "have you used drugs/alcohol?" Just my two cents.

thank you for the fast reply. Do I have a psych interview on this same date, or later? Also, if applying for seaman officer; will the joystick test be necessary. Thanks for the help

nah, the boyfriend answered yes and he's basically accepted. they'd be more pissed off if they found out you were lying.

To become a seaman officer is it absolutely necessary to do Adv. Mathematics in your HSC or will they still give you a go doing Gen. ???

hmmm not sure they accept general, but try anyway

and lol at the drugs and alcohol question - the adf does not expect every single member to not have drunk/experimented with drugs. clearly you're just bitter because you failed. which is good, because the system is designed to get rid of people like you.

EDIT: and lol at your lan party - why not just go to fragfest/sgl - tons better and properly organised

odd; I've heard of a lot of people who haven't done maths at all and have still been accepted for officer training. And it's not on the education requirements on the DF website..

depends on the degree program you want to study at adfa. plus, it would be more competitive, imo to have 2u maths as opposed to general....

Yep, they also did the same to me but I dont know why I applied in the first place

If you still want to become a pilot, do I am doing, and go to a flying school. Yes ANZ currently own me for the next 7 years and will make plenty of interest out of me, but hopefully in 7 years time the average decent pilot wage will wipe that out, even if you are in mass debt at the start.

As long as you passed Year 12 English you can soar the skies as quicker as any other person can.

    Re: anyone going to ADFA

Had my sights set on it early in the year. Sent my application in, waited for the YOU session. No answer, called them up couple of months later, finally got one about a week later. Turn up to the interview and say I've missed the cut-off date by a week! Shattered...even more now that I had a high enough ENTER to get in. Screw you recruitment staff! Anyways I'll try and get into the undergraduate scheme for next year. At least then I can stay home.

Exclamation Re: anyone going to ADFA

Hi all! I am doing Year 12 next year and I want to attend ADFA/UNSW. I am going to apply early in the year so I have a good chance of getting in. My subjects are English Studies, Maths Apps, Business Studies, Nutrition and Psychology. I live in Darwin so my schooling is done through SSABSA. I want to get a TER of at least 85.00 and higher. I know that there is specialist training specific to certain jobs. My parents are in the army and I have wanted to go to ADFA for as long as I can remember. I was wondering if ADFA and OSB look at past scores/reports or do they just look at your TER? I either want to do a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Business. I need to know everything like tips and if anyone who has gone through the selection process and is now at ADFA could contact me. I would be interested to talk to them. I am going to be doing a lot of things next year to help build my portfolio and at least help my case with ADFA. I plan to do cadets, the defence work experience program, volunteering, sports, SRC, ADFA Open Day and many more things. I am getting a personal trainer to help me with the fitness part. Is there anything that I have missed that would be needed and wanted by ADFA? I am willing to work my butt off to get into ADFA and I plan to do this next year. Going to ADFA is everything that I have wanted and I want to achieve this goal of mine. I want to know everything about the OSB and the selection process so I can at least prepare and help myself for it. I have already tried to apply through general entry twice. Also how would I go about seeing how I went in my psych interview? I would like to know whether I would need to improve on anything etc. I would like to know everything!!

    Thanks

    Re: anyone going to ADFA

Yes, they look at past reports. I have been through the selection process, and know a few people at ADFA so pm me your msn if you want to talk.

Good idea to have all that stuff, but best stuff is leadership, being involved in a wide range of activities, and TEAM SPORTS.

You can request your file through FOI with your psych interview results.

Also, you seem dead set on ADFA, and sound like you'll be suicidal if you don't get in. There's your first problem - if you don't make it in, there's always other routes, and they WILL ask you what will you do if you don't make it in.
