1500 in 40min is crazy. i could do 1200-300 in 40 but i try to have 15% less words than what i can write so i get time to adapt to q.

i dont actually know if its really that effective, but i guess its worth a try.

and if you're looking for a smooth pen, atlantis is the best around.
Yeh that works really well

Just get 2 rubbers and stickytape them to the end of your pen. As you get quicker, find something heavier

Masturbating also helps...

Last years did that, but there was one kid who forgot to take the weights off during the exam... Poor fool

Like seriously, just wank...

Oddly, you assume those who write a lot aren't writing quality.

Ha ha, a girl I work with said she didn't do the hsc because she wrote too slow. When I asked her wpm, she said less than 10 - not from memory though, but writing straight off a sheet

I usually pre-prepare them to around 1000 (which gives me time to adapt to the question, and finish comfortably) but I could push 1300 easy

5. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

500-700 words max

Uhh 500-700?

Fair enough, but I would be worried that people who are aiming for the same marks as you are writing twice as much...

And quality doesn't suffer too much if you're preplanned it properly and adapt, getting a balance between quality & quantity works out fine for me.

I've probably posted here before, but you could do 1000-1400 depending on how well prepared and practised you are I think.

Handwriting unfortunately suffers, but the girl who is topping our school with 100% across 4 units of English so far has pretty bad handwriting -- so I'm not too worried that its a dominant factor in deciding marks.

Oh dear...

7. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

The standards IMO are 1000-1300

8. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

im the one that posted and said i wrote basically 1500 words in 40 minutes..

i got my assessment back and i got 15/15. which shows that my writing had quality AND quantity.

9. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

i just counted one of my modules papers from the trial.
just over 900 words.

the other two were probably between 800-900.
i need to write faster.

10. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

How many words can you write in 40 minutes? For me, i'm absolutely pushing it at about 920 words. I've done 1000 words in 40 minutes before but I could barely read my own writing.

I'd love to see the length of the essays other people are planning to write out for the HSC.
If I've memorised it and I don't waste time getting straight into it about 800 - 900 for the trials where I don't know what my essay will be about then maybe 600 if i panic

17. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

Our teachers are expecting 1400-1500
So far I can only manage 1100
Yay -_-

18. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

For trials - did 1300ish every 40 minutes.

19. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

~900-1000 when I write non-stop, and think of my introduction and thesis statement during the Reading time. ( i prepare my body paragraphs).

20. ## Re: How many words can you write in 40 minutes?

1100 words in 40 minutes. I wrote 22 pages for paper 1 of my trials (English Advance AOS)

A year 12 student from Ryde Secondary College said mixing crushed Ritalin in energy drinks was common among his peers "to get a good boost during tests".

He tried the mixture while studying for his trial exams earlier this year, and said that it drastically increased his word rate.

"I was set to write around 2000 words but at the end I noticed I had written over 9000," he said.

Students asked each other whether or not they sat the exams "natty" (naturally), he said
