i'm trying to aim for at least a band 5 in english advanced this year but i dont know what marks i exactly need for it. i think my school is ranked in the 150-200 (give or take 20) and i'm ranked 28/37 (but everyone's marks are very close together). These are the marks i got:

AOS:
Discovery short answers: 10/15
Discovery creative: 9 or 10/15
Discovery essay: 12/15

Modules:
Module A: 16/20
Module B: 17/20
Module C: 18/20

Those marks would normally align to borderline band5/band 6.

However, remember that your external marks get averaged with whatever you get as your internal mark. I would say a band 5 with those marks is very likely :)

Well it is around 79% raw I believe so it will align to a Band 5. In saying that, it will depend on your assessment mark (based on the performance of your cohort).

With those paper 2 scores you should be owning paper 1..........than you would definitely get a band 6

Using rawmarks.info, 79 raw goes to 89-90 aligned, which is why I said it was borderline, by the way :p

But wouldn't this also depend on assessments completed in school?

Yes and no - it only depends on the rank and the school's overall performance externally. If someone ranked 28/37 can get 79 raw than I would assume the internal mark wouldn't be much different.
