| Assistant Member | TSFX tuition...should i go? Is it good, worth it? OR private tutor? You can hide this advertisement by registering. There's probably already threads about TSFX...but i can't find it...LOLSo yeah....i've heard everyone talking about the lectures and notes that TSFX gives are pretty good. I also remember reading that someone on this forum took quite a few of their classes. I'm thinking about doing the master class for methods and specialist...which is like $600 each LoL...but i dont mind about the price as long as it'll help me achieve a better ss. So people who have done it...is it really as good as they make it seem? With those people getting 50's and those people getting enters of above 99? OK...i'm not expecting that much...i just want to improve...thats all ![]() Like...i'm not bad at maths...i'm like...above average i guess. But thats not good enough in yr 12 LOL!!! ![]() First i was gonna get private tutoring...but then i thought that TSFX might be better. I think its quite hard to find a private tutor who would know what types of questions are on the exams, give full sets of notes and fully prepare you for the exams. And it works out that a private tutor is almost twice as expensive as TSFX!!! So yea...should i give it a go?? i need to decide pretty soon...coz the program is starting and it might get booked out ![]() Thanks guys!! Any advice or opinions would be appreciated!! |

I did methods last year and their notes cover practically anything in the course, and there is loads of practice questions. I have also heard that spec and chem are pretty good, so this year I am doing spec and chem @TSFX.

More around 200 - 500 ish. Depends on the type of course/lecture you're taking. | |

Half Year Fees - per subject $600 Master Class Program (over 24 hours across 11 weeks) $875 Master Class + Extension Program (37.5 across 14 weeks) Works out to be $25 or $23.33 depending on what you do. It's not that expensive when you compare it to private tutors lol |

25 Jan 2009, 7:39 PM ![]() | Re: TSFX tuition...should i go? Is it good, worth it? OR private tutor? Okay, I'm actually from NSW, but it's TSFX's first year here with us for the HSC and you guys are SO incredibly lucky to have such good programs running down in VIC. I highly recommend it. For those who haven't gone, I've scanned 2 booklets we got from them (and I agree, the notes are fantastic and worth every cent) which you can view on the HSC forum. It's a stickied thread. The lectures here in Sydney equated to approx. $16 p/h, if I remember correctly. Might've been $13, but definitely no more than $18. We intense lectures, done over 2 days. It was pretty much all from 9:30am-4:00pm. If you're going to pay $1000+, then I don't think it's worth it. Study hard. TSFX gives you great resources, but they're not a must.

Even if you know the stuff, getting it all again in different words or explained in a different way can help you to understand it better and provide better exam answers. I went to the short TSFX courses for biology and it was really rather good. That said, I totally wouldn't bother to go to the weekly courses or whatever. That's what uni students desperate for cash are for. |

31 Oct 2009, 6:35 PM ![]() | Re: TSFX tuition...should i go? Is it good, worth it? OR private tutor? thanks for making this thread, i was wondering the same thing. in the end i chose to go to chem for a half year because i need a study score of 35+. I find methods fairly easy, and im not too fussed about my spesh study score. Apart from that I find it quite expensive- i dunno i guess just the principle of having to spend so much money to get education, when the money could go to much better use. Well, its just how i feel-*sigh* the injustices of the world.

11 Aug 2009, 12:22 PM ![]() | Re: TSFX tuition...should i go? Is it good, worth it? OR private tutor? I think there's too much fuss about the amount of notes TSFX gives you. Notes tend to be more beneficial when they're your own, and when you write and think about them at the same time. Sinks in more. So I'd advise you not to go just for the notes provided! |

19 Aug 2009, 10:39 PM ![]() | Re: TSFX tuition...should i go? Is it good, worth it? OR private tutor? The TSFX on Bourke Street seems slightly unprofessional.. I mean outside the foyer there's piss stains and cigarette butts everywhere.. and the girl who answered the phone seemed pissed off and had the "can't be stuffed" attitude towards enquiries..
