29 Jul 2009, 7:33 PM ![]() | Humanities Tutoring- 99.95 MacRob Dux 2008 You can hide this advertisement by registering. Hi Everyone! My name is Hannah and I offer quality, clear tutoring in the humanities areas. There are lots of tutors for Maths and Science, but not enough tutors for smaller humanities subjects- often the more difficult courses to understand. I believe that you can get a perfect ENTER by studying the subjects you love- I did. And for the subjects you're struggling with- I can help you engage with the material, defeat the dreaded essay writing and show the examiners exactly how much you know. About me: I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne University with a Concurrent Diploma of Modern Languages (Japanese). I'm looking to major in Linguistics, with minors in Anthropology and Philosophy. I hold a National Scholarship- this means I get paid to attend uni. ENTER of 99.95 Subject scores: English Language: 50 Psychology: 50 Philosophy: 50 Japanese: 47 --> 51+ Literature: 46 --> 47+ University Enhancement Japanese: First Class Honours (equivalent to 55) Dux of MacRob 2008 (shared with three others) Australian Students Prize- $2000 for the top 500 students in Australia I studied two year 12 subjects in year 11, and gained 2 perfect study scores. Subject Prizes: English Language, Legal Studies, Philosophy, Japanese, Psychology. Academic Excellence award 2008, 2007, 2006. Alisa Nolte Academic and Extra-Curricula award 2005 Tutoring Offered: English Language- one-on-one sessions and exam/SAC preparation This subject is becoming more and more popular for those trying to escape the dreaded 3 hour English Exam- but it takes a lot more dedication and passion to do well. I will show you how to write an effective English Lanaguage essay. You'll know what to write and have all the examples and quotes- before you walk in the examination room. Moreover, I focus my sessions on the exact metalanguage required for clear, accurate linguistic analysis. The VCAA subject guide doesn't tell you what you need to know- I can. I focus on: - definite knowledge of metalanguage - analysis of spoken and written texts - planning an essay - using quotes, examples and key linguistic arguments to improve your writing Japanese- General sessions, essay correction and detailed study sessions Even fluent speakers of Japanese often score average marks because they fail to understand the course- I understand the course and will make sure you do to. I scored a perfect mark for my oral 20/20 and can help you polish your detailded study. I will show you effective strategies to plan out your detailed study so you're always in control of the conversation and never get suprised. Moreover, I will work on your script to make it stand out from the crowd- examiners here hundreds of orals every day- make yours memorable. I provide tests, essay corrections and topics (over 100 topics- you will get a repeat on the exam) conversation practice and listening task strategies. Philosophy- one-on-one sessions and group discussion This is the true specialist mathematics of the humanities- but also the most rewarding subject you will study. Good philosophical writing requires logical analysis, and the ability to maintain clarity whilst showing depth. I will focus on: - in depth analysis of individual texts - mapping out arguments in logical form and pointing out logical fallacies - essay writing: how to prepare for any question and write a clean essay - approaching application questions through charts and newspaper articles - philosophical expression Group discussions are often the best way to approach philosophy as they allow you to argue out your point of view. Small groups of around 3-5 students are ideal- and I will facilitate all discussions to ensure you understand every line of the text and every argument about Male prostitutes in Ancient Greece. Fees are negotiable depending on the type of session and numbers. One-on-one tuition from $35 per hour. I prefer to meet at the City Library (Degraves Street), the State Library or the University of Melbourne Library. If you live in the South Eastern Suburbs, home tutoring may be possible. I'm free on weekends and after school hours during the week tue-fri. Email me if you're interested and good luck with your studies! |
