I'm going to be honest, I don't remember what I put for everything, but I think I got ~81-83. So stoked! What would that scale to?

Re: Terry Lee's Answers to 2008 Hsc Maths Ext 1 Exam

dividing by 2 implies you can have john first then barbara or barbara first then john. the qn states john goes thru after barbara, that means barbara first then john so how can the 2 swap.

Re: Terry Lee's Answers to 2008 Hsc Maths Ext 1 Exam

all possible ways = 8!
john goes before + john goes after = 8!
therefore john goes after = 8!/2

another way of doing this is
BJXXXXXX
BXJXXXXX
BXXJXXXX...
BXXXXXXJ
6! X 7

XBJXXXXX
XBXJXXXX
XBXXJXXX...
XBXXXXXJ
6! X 6

last set would be

XXXXXXBJ

overall = 6!(7+6+5+4+3+2+1) = 20160
