Hey everyone,

I've got an oral task coming up soon about existentialism. I need some related texts! Does anyone know any (not the generic ones such as Stranger by A. Camus)?

Thank you!

P.S. Year 11.

Maybe some Kafka/Dostoevsky?

If you *really* wanted to go out of the mainstream, you could try Osamu Dazai's No Longer Human, which is interestingly quite similar to Camus' L'Etranger.

Although I would be able to give a more definitive answer if you specify exactly what concepts of existentialism you particularly want to explore.

Also, are you strictly interested in existentialist literary fiction, or are you open to actual existentialist philosophical works?

AmorFati alluded to a great work - 'The Metamorphosis' - Franz Kafka

I'm going to have to go with Metamorphosis as well. But it does depend on the branch of existential literature you want to explore. As in, you could do Kafka's "Metamorphosis" but you could equally do Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself"; both have heavily existential themes that you could talk about. For something more contemporary, I'd recommend Tim Winton's novel "Breath" - it's a great read!

All the best! :)
