This may sound a little crazy, but during the exam I had a bit of an epiphany with regards to this text, it sort of all came together for me as I truly was able to fully understand just how well Ondaatje has put this novel together, and I think I wrote the best personal response I've ever done (lucky as I wasn't happy with my responses for 50th G or RIII). But seriously, this text easily transcends Cloud Street or anything like that, and from listening to other people talk about it on here and at school I think a lot of people treat it just as another book they have to study and don't really get the brilliance. Like just things like the multifaceted nature of everything, the way you can't pin a rigid reading position like Marxist to it, that sort of thing. Best fiction I have ever read. Now lol, tell me if you agree or if I'm just going post-exam crazy.
