wow 83...way to low.

I rekon 86-7 is safe to say. Probs very minimum.

Re: Biology band 6 cut off

well if the band 6 cut off is around 83/84 then with a 65-70 i would say band 4

Re: Biology band 6 cut off

the thing is everyone is saying this exam was easy but thats because when do acnwer a question u answer it the way u think is correct so yeah you would think the short answers are easy.
-Many people acturaly drew a nephron instead of a kidney so there is 6 marks gone.
-Also multiple choice was qute hard.
-And the 8 marker people answered it diffrently. some poeple focused on the environment influencing gene expression while others focused on meiosis.
- and these are the smart people who made these mistakes

so i would say that even though people think they did well losing marks all over the place will bring down the range of the bands.
Last years exam had band 6 at raw mark 84 so i would say this years would be lower but definately not higher.

Re: Biology band 6 cut off

I drew nephron and kidney in the sexiest diagram youll ever see...

Had it all...donno if ill loose marks...

I did the nephon and drew the cortex and medulla, then I had collecting ducts joining to the pelvis.

Re: Biology band 6 cut off

excretion doesn't happen in the general kidney. it happens first with the nephron.
think about it.
it was worth six marks.
label filtration and explain (one + one = two)
label reabsorption and explain (one + one = two)
label excretion and explain (one + one = two)
we spent a whole unit on 'maintaining a balance', not 'taking a piss'.

Re: Biology band 6 cut off

yeah but mate the nephron is situated on the cortex and medulla.

nephron= filtration, reabsorption, secretion
cortex=filtration
medulla= reabsorption and secretion
ureter = transports secretion to bladder

I talked about both environmental factors and mutations giving new variety in the 8 mark question

I think I may mixed up cortex and medulla up *worries* but at least I got ureter

but a nephron

The multiple choice were quite simple...
If my raw mark is 80% and I hoping for around 85 what u think?
