Thanks for your input but my teacher specifically wanted us to have a pretty closed question that could be answered with a yes or no but we'd have to justify reasons why that was the case. She said it would be too difficult otherwise.

I altered the question by adding onto it so now it's "Does being a member of a sole parent family decrease the wellbeing of adolescents in comparison to that of a nuclear family".

I think what you have changed it to is fine!

Alternatively, as an additional idea if you wanted to keep it as the original theme you would turn it more into a research statement:

Adolescents within sole parent families have been shown to have decreased wellbeing.

From there you could do surveys amongst all adolescents to see differences and/or trends.

Damn. That's a good idea, I don't know which to do now. Which do you think would be easier to do? In terms of collecting data for the statement, there would be bias from adolescents within sole parent families wouldn't it?

It's entirely up to you which way you go with the IRP- what do you feel most comfortable with?? With any IRP topic there will always be some form of bias to contend with and you should indicate this to the marker when writing about the methodologies that you utilised.

I think both can be sort of similar and am comfortable with the both of them, leaning more towards the research statement you suggested because it includes adolescents from a variety of families but the question is more specific. In terms of the research question, I'm not sure how to choose the people to research as it won't be even i.e I might have 8 people from nuclear families and 5 for blended and etc. Could I still go about doing this but make sure that I include it somewhere because it doesn't seem to be very reliable.

Yes you can still go about it. Although, you need a much larger spread of people to survey, 13 people is not enough to gain an insight into the diversity of the population.

    How does this topic sound:
"How do the implications of having a child with Cerebral Palsy affect the paren't well-being?"
    Thanks

Exclamation CAFS IRP surveys: Evolved parenting styles
    Hi,
I am completing my IRP for CAFS at the moment and would love your input.
My IRP subject looks at how parenting styles have changed from one generation to the next and how these styles effect a parent/child relationship.
To gain insight I am doing two surveys, one for youth and one for adults/parents.

Please keep in mind that all responses remain anonymous.

The latest date for this to be completed is the 30th May 2014.
