you'll be fine.
actually i forgot i had an italian speaking exam today. the people organising the exam timetable put biology and italian speaking at the same time so i got pulled out of bio to do the exam! oh well i only left 15 min. early (as apposed to half the grade leaving an hour early!) so it's not so bad. hehe if my friend hadn't come in and told me i would've forgotton and missed the exam completely lol

16 Aug 2003, 1:26 PM
at our school we are not allowed to leave if we finish early. Also if the timetable people have made a clash, they organise to do an exam at a different time
mei_ling03
16 Aug 2003, 6:05 PM
yeah the person organising was crap, i know. i don't know what was up with all the others - there were only 4 that stayed to the end! (we started with 40) we're allowed to leave anytime just not in the last half hour..

I did the ILTA paper as well and i thought the listening was way hard..i only got 17 out of 25 for it. the rest was ok and overall i got 84 out of 100 including speaking(i got full marks for that)
Kakie
22 Aug 2003, 11:20 PM
how do you get full marks for spking??
the higjhest ive ever got is 19.5!! what gets me that .5 more?? grrr

22 Aug 2003, 11:26 PM
wat i dont get is how my spanish teacher gave 19 out of 20 for speaking and spanish is my native tongue and then my italian teacher gives me full marks for it(im not italian and i have no italian family) and shes a really hard marker. Apparently i lack sophistication when i speak spanish.

Quando avro' perfezionata la mia conoscenza della lingua italiana, mi piacerebbe studiare lo spagnolo e poi il francese.
I don't know what you should say to alessio! Its almost impossible to know what to say so say whatever feels right.

listening was definately my worst but i came second in my class for that part so it didn't really matter.
i did better in the writing than i thought i would and i only lost 2 marks for the reading passages.
Did your teachers have anything to say about the reading and responding question - the email between elio and stefania? My teacher could understand the confusion we had because it was dfiicult to work out who was from where. I think we decided Elio was in Australia and Stefania was in Italy but it was confusing because Elio is an italian name and because she said she would be under amountain of books in march. Ah well
I'm stoked because i am still 1st in my class even though i came 2nd in that exam. yay!

that was really helpful GRAZIE mille!!
now hers something else i dont understand, we got a lecture the other day from our teacher about the word qualche, and how even tho it means some it muts be followed by the singular form ie qualcheVOLTA capite? but with grazie which means thankS why does it have to be followed by the plural and then why do you say grazie MILLE which is obviously the singular???!!! kate is very very confundulated

I don't know if i'm exactly right about the split infinitive but i know it exists in english. In the siamo contro il mondo example, if you put a word in between the siamo and contro you split the infinitive (I'm guessing the infnitive in contrare) Don't worry i'm probably making things up.
i'm not really sure witht the grazie thing but grazie doen't mean thanks, it mean thankyou. Thanks is more slang and it makes you think its plural when its probably singular

when we went we said grazie molto and then our teacher told us to say grazie mille because we sounded like yobbo's!
It was so cute though cos the otherteacher who went with us who spoke no italian (she had to ask us what 'no' in Italian was) was trying to get her suitcasea cross the bridge near the train station in Venice and this guy helped her across and she had no idea what he said to her but she just said ''grasie mille' and she was so proud to of remembered it!
