Hey guys @ boredofstudies

I am in need of some rather dire help.

I haven't really put in the effort in highschool for my exams so i have been put into lower classes because of my laziness.

These are the subjects i have chosen and i am pretty worried about ataining a high Atar unless i do astronomically well in all.

Geography|English Standard|General Maths (Want to do 2 unit but seems impossible according to my school)PDHPE|Business Services|Biology

I was thinking of changing some of the subjects around like Biology for IPT and maths for 2 Unit maths...

I'm getting the feeling that i won't get that atar needed for any course that i may choose to do...

So what would you guys suggest i do? I mean I'm not a incompetent person just never learned how to study effectively so i don't memorise all exam context..

Really worried. Could actually use any advice now.

Hey all, currently in a bit of trouble for not completing homework which included Wilfred Owen's Dulce Et Decorum Est themes.
The start of the work is themes, apart from war, tragic loss of life and uselessnes of war/lie of war/anti propaganda i have no idea of any others.

If somebody can put me on the right track with a few themes, I'll be able to find some quotes and elaborate on that with a paragraph or two about the techniques and effect of the theme and quote

So if anybody can give me a few hints as to how to easily distinguish themes, thatd be much appreciated.

Alright...here is the thing.

I am doing pathways atm..next year I'm going to picking up some new subjects, and I just cannot decide what to do.

I love animals and would like to have a career where I get to work with them..most bachelor degrees in biodiversity & conversation, wildlife biology/management, animal science, etc..ask for chemistry and mathematics, and if they don't the course has a great deal of it. My math is of acceptable standard, I just have to study very hard to get it and I am very slow at solving the problems but I can do it....chemistry on the other hand, different story. Throughout my entire schooling career, I've never liked science..hated it the most out of all my subjects actually, although I was in the 'special class' mainly for maths, I don't ever recall doing well in science..I remember enjoying learning about the dinosaurs in kindergarten haha but thats about it, even when I learnt about putting the potato with these wires to make this light bulb go on I was like "WTF!?!?!"...I wouldn't say I'm stupid, because I can get Modern History and Shakespeare and I can get math with practice....but I simply have never been good at science even with valiant effort self-tutoring.

Do you think it is worth doing chemistry and perhaps even some other science subjects despite my past record with science to pursue an animal career? I'm being realistic here, and am not aiming for something like a vet..I'd be happy being a veterinary nurse/technician or zookeeper..should I bother picking up science subjects, especially chemistry or should I just forget about it and stick with what I know I'm good at (SOR, History, S&C..all the humanity courses really) and find out what careers I can get into with those? Btw, I'm doing biology atm and am hating it..our teacher is really bad, so I've been attempting self-study which although has been better than failing..its not that great either, like I got 50%ish on the final exam for year 11 so yeah I'm prolly gonna drop it. I'm torn about whether I should just try an even harder science but get a tutor this time (although it feels like I'm just setting myself up for failure, which most people are telling me), or just do what I know I'll pass and just accept it isn't my thing and to find another way to make a living with my natural ability in humanity courses...I was considering doing law and specialising in animal law, which is becoming more popular here in Australia.

So I'm looking at either doing, the ones in bold being the subjects I'll pick up in 2010:

English Standard
Ancient + Modern History w/ Extension
Society and Culture
Studies of Religion
Drama

OR

English Standard
Society and Culture
Modern History w/ extension
Chemistry
Mathematics

So what should I do? Try with a tutor and risk failing, or take the safe route but decrease my chances of getting into my desired field?
