According to Keynesian IS-LM model, what is the effect of each of the following on output, the real interest rate, umemployment and the price level? Distinguish between short run and long run.

a) Financial deregulation allows banks to pay a higher interest rate on checking accounts.
b) The introduction of sophisticated credit cards greatly reduces the amount of money that people need for transactions.
c) A severe water shortage causes sharp declines in agricultural output and increases in food prices.
d) A temporary beneficial supply shock affects most of the economy, but no individual firms is affected sufficiently to change its prices in the short run.

2) Under NCM, the use if fiscal policy to fight a recession doesn't make workers better off( assume that the increase in tax liability makes people work harder). suppose that KE is correct. Relative to a policy of doing nothing, does an increase in government purchases that brings the economy to full employment make workers better off? discuss the effects of the fiscal expansion on the real wage, employment, consumption and current and future taxes. How does your answer depend on the direct benefits of the government spending program and the speed with which prices adjust in the absence of fiscal stimulus??

Please help me.... Many Many Thanks!!!!!!

According to Keynesian IS-LM model, what is the effect of each of the following on output, the real interest rate, umemployment and the price level? Distinguish between short run and long run.

a) Increased tax incentives for investment ( the tax breaks for investment are offset by lumpsum tax increases that keep total current tax collections unchanged)

b) Increased tax incentives for saving ( lumpsum tax increases offset the effect on total current tax collections)

c) A wave of investors pessimism about the future profitability of capital investments.

d) An increase in consumer confidence as consumers expect that their incomes will be higher on the future

2) suppose the central bank has a policy i increasing the money supply when it observes that the econmimy is in recession. But, suppose that avour six months are needed for an increase in the money supply to affect aggregate demand, which is about the same amount of time needed for firms to review and reset their prices. What effects will the central bank have on output and price stability? Does your answer change if a) the central bank has some ability to forecast recessions or b) price adjustment takes longer than six months??

Thanks to all the members who have
shared useful links.

If you have any more relevant links please share them here.

General Information

Relevant Syllabus Points
Case study
A case study on the impact of globalisation on an economy other than
Australia must be undertaken, along with the strategies that this economy
is using to promote economic growth and development.

Impact of globalisation:
• international convergence

• economic growth, development and the quality of life

• trade, investment and transnational corporations

• distribution of income and wealth

• environmental consequences

• financial markets

• the international business cycle

• implications for government economic policies.

Which economy should I use as a case study?
It is best to use an economy where the impact of globalisation is quite
evident. For example: China, Poland, Brazil, Vietnam etc. It is important
to ensure that the case study chosen is appropriate and will enable
you to respond to a question regarding it with the best possible response.

Should I pre-prepare a response to this type of question?
This is a personal choice - some people feel it is of a benefit to them,
others do not. In past HSC's it has been evident to markers that students
have pre-prepared responses, which in some cases did not meet the requirements
of the question. If you are going to pre-prepare a response ensure that
you can be flexible with it and can adapt the contents to suit the question
asked.

Do I need to include current statistics/data?
Marking guidelines from previous HSC papers state that better responses
included current statistics and data.

Does it matter if the case study I use is popular?
According to previous marking guidelines, generally some of the more
popular case studies (eg: China) are actually some of the best to use
as the impact of globalisation is more evident. You should decide yourself
and through discussion with your teacher which case study you feel is
most appropriate and use this one. Don't worry about whether a lot of
other people are using it or not - just worry about how well you can
respond to a question using it.

Hey all! :pirate:
For a year 12 eco assessment at school (a hand in one) we have to use lots of relevant data etc. and we are doing the first globalisation and trade topic. We need the data about protectionist economies or blocs, and I was wondering where to go to to look for some current stats about how much they trade outside their agreements, inside them, levels of tariffs etc. so I can talk about how protectionism still exists - particularly within trading blocs.

I think what I am talking about is right - but I would LOVE some data on it to help me and my assessment!

Where should I go? Any good sites?

Thanks alot for you help! And good luck in your exams everyone! :D

I am wondering which one is the BEST resource - which one have you downloaded/tried and how did you rate it?
Thanks
