I want to do a double degree in Science and Arts, majoring in Genetics and Ethics, and I was wondering which university would be best for that.

On top of that, I was hoping to find the pros and cons of each university generally, accommodation, cost, ATAR cut offs, facilities, halls etc.

And pretty please, also the pros and cons of Canberra and Melbourne themselves !

I'd love you guys so much if you could give me anything! x

Hi all, I was wondering everyone's opinion on which uni between UNSW, USyd and UOW is the best for a double degree of a Bachelor of Engineering/Commerce. I obtained the mark to get into any of these courses. My thoughts:
UNSW: Pros - Very Prestigious, good course structure etc. Cons - Have heard it has a bad social atmosphere, expensive
USyd: Pros - Most internationally recognised, best looking campus, good core structure, good social life etc. Cons - expensive, have heard major companies employ UNSW over USyd. Is this true?
UOW: Pros - Cheap, will be top of my course, good social life, have many scholarships on offer here. Cons - not as prestigious as the other two/less majors to choose from.
Does anyone have anything to add to this? and which uni is best do you all think?
Thanks :)

Hello,

I'm a first year science student at the moment. I was just thinking about some future study options after I graduate (lol, i know it's a bit early, but I was curious!)

My degree is already a double degree, but say in the future I wanted to do a simple B Commerce by itself... Is this called post graduate study since I already have a degree? probably not?

What would be the entry requirements for one of the generic degrees? Like B Arts, B Commerce, B Engineering? Minimum WAM and whatnot?
Is there perhaps a competition with the new high school graduates? like an WAM to ATAR conversion table?

Also, my degree is known for being a WAM killer... I'll probably only have a low-ish credit average when I graduate, is that going to impact on future study a lot?

Thanks for the advice!

I have a Bachelor of Psychological Science – loved the degree and think I gained a lot from it, personally. However, I'm now investigating my options, as far as secondary school teaching is concerned.

Obviously, the standard is that you do a four year degree, and are then eligible for registration. However, Southern Cross University offers a two-year Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at a graduate entry level, i.e. you must already have a degree to gain entry. It enables you to specialise in two areas (most one-year graduate diplomas only allow for one), and states: "Graduates of the course meet the qualification requirements for accreditation/registration as a teacher in schools across all Australian states and territories."

My question is: in the highly competitive job market for teachers, would those with a four year undergraduate degree have a significant advantage over someone with a two year postgraduate degree?

Further, how well are graduate diplomas in education viewed? Obviously, with a three year Psych. Science degree and a one year graduate diploma, I have a kind of four year degree under my belt, but only one of those years is related to education – that must put you at a distinct disadvantage in the job market, right?

Hi Guys :)
I was having a discussion with parents regarding my future the other day, and I would like to ask which is better:
B Commerce at USYD
B Commerce at UNSW
B Business Leadership and Commerce (New course for 2014) at Macquarie University
I honestly don't mind which I get into, but which would be better in terms of quality and employment for the future?
My parents are nagging for me to go Macquarie as its convenient in terms of travel times etc, but what I am concerned about is that (I know this might sound silly of me) Macquarie doesn't sound as...prestigious I guess? LOL idk
And since B Business Leadership and Commerce is a new course, does anyone know what would I study within this course?
Any help is good help!
Thanks :)

Dear fellow students

Is there any students out there who have experienced the lack of support for GMAT exam preparation in Australia?

As a recent GMAT test taker myself I was very disapointed with the lack of support and guidance available. The only support I found was throught the official mba.com site which involved me writing emails to some guy in America and not to mention it took him a few weeks to reply each time.

There is a lot of technical information on the exam but what I thought was more important was to be able to talk to test takers going through the same thing and providing a support community.

Let me know what your thoughts are and if you think a website dedicated to providing support material and opportuinity to chat with students going through the same thing would assist you in preparing for your GMAT exam.

I look forward to all your feedback.
