Accomodation for first year

I was wondering whats the best way to go about accomodation for first year. I have to move to sydney from up north hoping to study at UNSW. Any tips on how to go about organising, cheapest, best accomodation im am so confused.

hey i found this sheet of paper that ranks 19 universities over NSW and QLD (ranking them on 'starting graduaute salary', 'getting a job', 'positive graduate outcomes', 'staff qualifications', 'teaching quality', 'generic skills', 'overall satisfaction', 'student-staff ratio', 'cultural diversity', 'non government earnings', 'gender balance', 'entry flexibility'... it gives a ranking of each of these areas out of 5 stars) its out of '2009 good university guide' and was jusst wondering if this was a good magazine/guide and is the information reliable? thanks

hey i have a question

if a course in first round did not have as many applicants as they did spaces, would they offer a space to someone who had an atar that was say... 2 less than the cut off? or do they wait for the second round....bit confused :s

Yeah sorry if this is the wrong part of the forums, I've never really been able to place where to put these questions.

Basically, I can't decide whether I should be going for a law course at a lower tier uni (it'd be macquarie) or trying and failing to get into sydney or NSW instead and hence ultimately doing a comm/arts degree at sydney. I'm expecting an ATAR of maybe 95-98, probably 96 or 97. I'm pretty sure law interests me more than commerce, but is it preferable to go to sydney and try for a transfer through commerce into their law course? Or instead go to macquarie and directly do law from there?

Also, I'm interested in doing arts alongside either law or commerce. Would there be a significant difference between the arts faculties of Sydney and Macquarie?

This might seem a bit vague, but hopefully someone can help me. Thanks.

Hey, did anyone here get an interview for Med at JCU? If so please tell me what date is your interview on? Mine is on the 10th of December, but i was looking to swap the date with someone here (JCU staff says thats the only way possible to change your interview date) as i have somewhere important to be overseas(not relaxing on a holiday mind you).

When do you enroll at uni?

Stupid question.. do you enroll for your course at uni after you finish the hsc or before hsc? because if you enroll before the hsc, you don't know your results so you don't know if you would get in.. what is the procedure?

Double Degree Masters

Ok, so at the moment I'm doing a B Creative/B Commerce. I am interested in doing a double master in marketing and managment (MStratMgmt-MStratMark) at the end of my commerce bachelor. Is this possible? Am I allowed to do a double degree with a double master, or is it not feasible?

Why is my VCE so undervalued in England..?

Okay so I've been in contact with universities around England for quite a while now, I am from England and have lived in Australia for the past 5 years. Although I am a British Citizen, I would be an international Student at British University.

However I could be from any country as long as I'd lived there for the past 3 years and be local.

Talk about looking after your own...

Anyway, my VCE score of 89.05 in the eyes of Universities equates to a score of BBC (ish) in A level terms. Now I just can't figure this out. I am generally around the top 11 - 12% of students in VIC when i completed my studies, and seeing as generally around 5-7% of students are getting AAA nowadays in England I don't see why I am considered so low in their eyes. Now in their eyes an AAA = about a 98.6 in VCE score. So the top 1.4%ish of students in VCE equal around the top 5-7% in England.

Why is this the case?????

I feel like I would not be able to get into the education that I deserve over there because of this.. and it's really stressing me out. Can anyone enlighten me as to why this is the case?

Does anyone know how many times you can do a stat test to enter uni?

for example, if i do not achieve a great enough result, can i try again the next available time/year?

I am interested solely in money/income and my own benefit. I've had a few suggestions regarding this. Some people have suggested medicine/dentistry for the money aspect, but there is a huge focus on helping others and the less fortunate which is something I'm not willing to do at the moment.

Is business worth looking into? It's another option that is frequently suggested but it seems as though 99% of people in business don't make it big and job hunting can pose a problem.

How much money do you spend per week at Uni??

1. Going out: eg. drinks/partying/clubbing
2. Necessities: eg. transport/food/petrol/rent
3. Shopping: eg. clothes/shoes/stuff that makes you feel good

-Just want to roughly know how much I'll need to be workin' + spending next year when I hit uni.

The 'After School Hangover'

Its something that my mates and i were talking about last night, how we were all nostalgic about year 12, money is such an issue now, loss of friends, no house parties anymore, and basically the fact now we have to grow up and start making important decisions and life really isnt all its cracked up to be post school. My brother just said that its the 'After School Hangover' and every school leaver goes through it at some time. I thought this was a really good way of putting it.

Just wondering if anyone else here has experienced it?
