Which courses should I choose, i want to major in actuarial studies for commerce so which courses do I choose? I'm doing Commerce/Adv maths

MATH1151 is Actuarial maths.
ACTL1001 (?) is a Commerce flexible core for actuarial students.

Pick another two subjects from the Commerce core or flexible core. If you want options: ECON1101, ACCT1501,... look here: http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2012/3502.html

You need to do SCIF1121 in the first semester. Forgot, sorry.

ACCT1501 is a core Commerce course. You must do it.

No, they're just general courses everyone has to do.

If i Dont get accepted to quantitative risk can I still become an Actuary and Is their any point still of doing the ADv maths course along with the commerce course or should I go to maquarie /Just do commerce/economics.

Of course you can. As for the second question, that ultimately depends on you. Do you enjoy maths? Do you think you can handle a thesis? Maybe Commerce/Science (majoring in math/stat or both is better). I'm in my third year this year and I genuinely have no idea if I'll "drop" to Science or carry through with Adv. Math.

No, because if you look at the handbook:

"
Prerequisite: ACTL1001 and MATH1251 or School Approval"

You need to do those subjects first. Unless you're very smart and can get School Approval.

ACTL2001 or whatever it was? Yes. You can see timetabling information here: http://www.timetable.unsw.edu.au/2012/ACTL2001.html .

As we can see, they offer it in Summer Term and Semester 1. So you can do it next year.

hey just confirming.

is SCIF mandatory for commerce/advanced math? like do i absolutely have to do this degree at some point? i know math1151, econ etc are needed for the commerce component.
