Eco is awesome. Really interesting. Adv English is good, some modules are more interesting than others though. I have a good teacher so I'm fortunate.

As for English Ext 1, if you don't have a good teacher, forget it, not worth the time. You can get a tutor, but you're better off doing SOR or another humanities for it in yr 11. So make sure you know who the teacher is going to be and how good they are..

re: Guide to choosing subjects for Year 9 & 10 Commerce is a very easy subject. Just a bit of memorising but most you already know/it's common sense. In Year 9 and 10 I found the content quite interesting, but it also depends on the teacher you get.
