    Double degree or double major?

I would just do Civil (one degree). This means you will be out working as a graduate engineer in 4 years (not 5.5 for BE/BCom). Once you have chosen your path, after a year or two of work, you can do part-time Masters level coursework (extra engineering specialisation or the current preferred...

Got a question related to uni degree

There are now two types of 'Honours' in Engineering. The traditional one is denoted by a number e.g. Honours Class 1, Honours Class 2 Division 1, Hon 2-2, Hon 3. The new one refers to the fact the degree is 4 years. This has come about due to some rule changes with the government. Every 4 year...

    Engineering at UNSW vs USYD

Project management is part of the straight Civil degree so you don't really need the double degree. Postgrad (Masters) qualification easily trumps a Bachelor degree. Best to choose which one when you finish the Bachelors and do it part time whilst working. Two Bachelors sounds better that...

pathways to becoming a civil engineer

From UNSW Eng site (most unis will be similar - do your research): "If you do not possess any of the qualifications outlined in the Entry Requirements, there are a number of alternative avenues through which you may seek admission to an undergraduate program at UNSW. These include: UNSW...

    Alternative pathways to engineering

You're probably fine but this may help you or others. Some useful sites for bonus points/flexible entry. Many unis also run uni entry courses that last a year or you can look at TAFE options. UNSW Engineering General...

Need Clarification - Flexible First Year Engineering

You need to choose what School/Course you are currently looking at doing e.g. Civil/Mech/Chem... (you are not locked into this). Then, you need to find out the recommended electives for that course. They will be the same as what a student already enrolled in that course would be doing. Do them...

    Master of Geotechnical Engineering

UNSW Civil and Environmental Engineering runs a MEngSci in Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology. Typically for Civil Engineers or geologists who wish to work in the geotechniocal field. As for being a 'professional engineer', this is decided by the Institution of Engineers and not...

Will a distinction average in engineering actually grant you first class honours?

There is no percentage. To get honours you must reach a certain standard (>75 WAM). The standard should not change based on numbers or quality of students. If you got honours in 2000 it will mean the same thing as getting it in 2020. As for individual subjects. Most (not all) are not scaled...

Get into UNSW Engineering with an ATAR of low 80s?

Sorry to be the negative one on this, but with the current demand for Civil it is very unlikely that you will get into UNSW through FEAS without extension maths and at least one science. By all means apply but have a good backup plan.

    car parks near unsw

Note that the parking cops love booking students so don't overstay any limits. Also, avoid parking too close to corners. I have seen them booking cars for that plenty of times as well.
