I wrote mine on my hand... the markers seemed half amused and half concerned. I too have finished! Ham loaf for all!

    Rationale thread

Impressive. Most of my class wrote their performance rationales an hour and a half before the markers arrived. I didn't do a performance IP, but your rationale looks impressive. Good luck with that.

    colourful log books?

Both my IP and GP logboooks were filled with pictures. My GP even had a lot of hand drawn and coloured cartoons of our characters, sets, costumes etc. Sure it wasn't marked, but if you think it didn't affect anything you're kidding yourself. What do you think the markers are looking at when they...

What plays have you seen this year?

As a class we've seen 'Gary's House' (which we're studying) and something on refugee camps, I think it was called 'Behind the Barricades'... or the wire or bars or something of the sort.

    Rationale

Yeah, our teacher says the GP doesn't require a rationale because you're marked individually, and if the purpose of your piece isn't made implicit through the performance, then you're failing to convey it properly. So the performance should stand alone, and the individual logbooks are a sort of...

    Practical Exams!!!!

I did script writing so I'm cool, but don't feel so bad. Some of the people in my class don't know their lines for their IP. We were very, very lucky with the GP. It's on the last possible day [Friday], so we're going to work our asses off like constipated monkeys all weekend. I feel bad for...

    bibliography

I had footnotes in my reflection statement (my teacher said I needed them), but I don't know how you write a bibliography for an original short story.

    Word Count

6003 if I don't decide to start with a (probably superfluous) quote. I'm curious, does anyone know how strict they are with work at the lower end of the word limit? I mean, you can't visually spot the difference between a 6000 word story and a, say 5970 word story. Do they ever check that...

    Good luck, script writers.

Good luck to all. Particularly those who are sending their scripts away today, like myself. And some of you other people, assuming you are alive. God help us all.

    Official BOS 2005 Critique Thread

Well, those are legitimate concerns, but it looks to me as though people from previous years have posted their work without repercussions. Besides, with only a few days left before they're handed over, it's unlikely someone will steal an entire work (thus having to create an entirely new journal...

    Official BOS 2005 Critique Thread

I'm interested in having my work (well perhaps not the entire thing, I'm extremely paranoid) critiqued, but I don't want to post it for all to see. Anyone interested might email me at xperverted@yahoo.com.au. It's very much appreciated.

How to overcome a pre-exam lack of clarity.

I think the best method with that sort of mental block is in how you approach the exam question. Try to pick it to pieces so you know what you need to answer before you know how to answer it. For example, if you're answering an English question, circle every significant term (context...

    related text for frontline

Yes. A lot of people. I happened to randomly mention it after the trial and discovered that about three or four of my friends alone had used it. I wouldn't use it for the HSC simply because the markers have probably tired of reading about it, and it's a 'cartoon'. I'd go for something more...

Telling the Truth - Related Texts

I haven't checked, but I see no reason why there should be. As long as it allows you to effectively explore the topic, it shouldn't matter. If you're worried about an 'old' article you could briefly explain its context. I used 'Mr.Smith Goes to Washington' (1939) as related material.
