Okay, so we need to know formats of certain text types for Japanese Continuers and Extension, like newspaper articles, letters, etc. Where can we get info on which texts the markers expect to be in plain or polite form? Is there a list that the BOS keeps somewhere? My old Japanese...

They don't count towards the word limit, and it's good to include that sort of stuff, to show your research, etc., just don't overdo it. While the occasional reference can show the sophistication of a work, too much can stuff it, disrupt the flow. No one wants to read a page of footnotes. If...

I concur. If high numbers are forcing them to be selective, it should be on a basis of relevance to the course rather than HSC aptitude.

Basically you can only re-read your notes and practice writing about your text/topic. But, yes, you can study for English.
