1. ## 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

How did you find it?

2. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Fairly good until question 15 and 16 which was quite hard

3. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Can someone please scan the paper

It was alright, and the questions weren't too bad compared to previous years

5. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Was a very mathsy paper

6. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

what do you reckon the band 6 cutoff will be?

7. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Everything was fairly easy except for question 16.

gg

9. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Band 4 cutoff?

10. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Question 16 was so tough, and I didn't realise there was the last page until 10 minutes remaining

Same thing happened to one of my friends today...

12. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Woooooo, I totally screwed that one up.
If I didn't have extra units I'd be in a bad state right now, damn.

Only doing this crappy subject because of my parents anyway, I'm glad to be done with it.

13. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

It was fine tbh. Lost 7 marks defs for the last two qs and the find x for sin a = sin b qs. Hope I get 85+ fml

14. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

What did everyone get for the values of 'a' in the limiting sum = 2 question?? I got 0<a<4 but not sure

15. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

All I remember is that you had to know that the absolute value of r<1 and then you rearrange the formula to make r the subject and substitute that in

16. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Pretty good! I found it easier than other years actually

17. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Omfg i got theh same

18. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

Exam was alright overall

Same can't be said for Q16 specifically tho

19. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

what did everyone get for question 10 where it asked for how many times the velocity changed direction?

20. ## Re: 2017 HSC Mathematics Paper thoughts

I put down 3 because of three stationary points

I think I chose 2 because you count how many times it goes from positive to negative or negative to positive. But I think might have misread the graph, not sure lmao

yayy u got it right haha. its cos the top half is the positive direction and vice versa. the stationary points only highlight a change in speed i.e. like it slowed down more

Well if its velocity, does it not mean that when its below the graph its just moving in the same direction but alternates speed?

Yeah that’s right. Also, if the particle only touches the x-axis, does that count as a change in direction?

No it's 1. It stops at first but doesn't change direction.

assuming t-axis, then no, it just stops at that instant.
