    I'm very curious as to why gin & tonic is a thing.

    Gin is perfectly fine served neat considering its aromatic qualities. I suppose it's one of life's mysteries.

    It's not a mystery at all. British colonial people drank tonic water to ward of malaria, the gin was added to make the tonic water taste better.
