Anyone have any ideas of what I could use to link with Julius Caesar? I know that most texts have some sort of conflicting perspective but I need something interesting and easy to link to JC....
thanks for the help....

hey..
SIEV X is a really good conflicting perspective subject...
its about a boat of refugees that sunk in 2001..
some people think the Aus government had ships nearby and did nothing to prevent...but the Aus government remain certain that they were not involved in the refugee scandal.
look it up if you like, its interesting and provides 2 good perspectives
hope it helps..
what is your assessment task?
Look up the pictures "The Conciliation" by Benjamin Duterrau
and "The National Picture" by Geoff Parr.
The National Picture is an appropriation of The Conciliation, and I used them to link to the conflicting perspectives within JC. If you need more help with it, send me a PM.
I think that's a good suggestion- it shouldn't be too hard to search two opposing news articles.Originally Posted by skyeskyeboo
Another good topic would be on the Henson case, an article like http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...23/2253585.htm could be a good related text
I was going to do this but my teacher said i have to find a feature article, not just a news article!Originally Posted by tenshi789
But my teacher called up the BOS about using Plath's poetry to see if it was cool, but they haven't got back to her.
Edit: Oh yeah and if anyone can suggest any related texts that preferbly relate to Birthday Letters and relationships it would be deeply appreciated![]()

Okay my whole class is doing "Across the universe" the movie as our related text - baha its such a good movie
I don't know exactly what the name of this film/supplementary is, however this scene looks pretty promising for conflicting perspectives/JC.
Ill get back to you guys soon.

hi there. i was thinking of doing the conflicting perspectives in relation to the vietnam war and Australia. Is there anything better that you can think of or does that work?

our teacher recommended us to do films more...
There's always the option of doing Plutarch - Lives or The Fall of the Roman Empire. It's similar, but Plutarch often has a different perspective on events than Shakespeare, some of them noticeably so. The first that comes to mind is Plutarch's very different portrayal of Brutus. If you're going to use more than one related text, it probably doesn't hurt to do one that directly relates to Julius Caesar, ie. Plutarch or a film version.
A news article or a Four Corners episode on Bill Henson's controversial photography from 2008.
"It's art" (perspective one) versus "it's child pornography" (perspective two).
We are also co conflicting perspectives. We need 2 supps that have conflicting perspectives. we have been given a list but im not sure i want ot do any of them. can any body think of any more besides these below....
MAddi Mccann case
bill henson
nelson madela
Azariz chamberlain
black power salute
children over bored
death penalty
eathanasia
Cleopatra wrote a bit about Julius Caesar. Things that contradicted his own 'diaries'.

how many related texts do we have to write about?
my school teacher tells me we only need one, but everyone else seems to be doing two?
also
for conflicting perspectives which related text is better to do for Julius Caesar?
one that shows alot of conflicting perspectives, mainly between the characters, through arguments (they mainly argue about racial issues)
or
one that, although doesnt show as much conflicting perspectives, shows conflicting perspectives that are similar to those depicted in Julius Caesar (eg. conflicting perspectives of a public figure, whether to kill them or not etc.)?

Hmm, if I was you I would choose the second one. You should try that one, then if it's too hard go for the first one.
But why can't you do both? We have to have two that relate. If it doesn't say how many you should definitely do both.
Ok, does anyone think Animal Farm- George Orwell will be a good text to use? It's just cause it's pretty short to read and it's considered a 'classic'.
Technically, should be two related texts. But usually, they go in the question: "Using at least one related text....".
Given the influx of people doing newspaper articles, I'll probably use a novel or something. To Kill A Mockingbird?![]()
i used the Bill Henson debate ...
In defence of Bill Henson — Terraform Artist for bill
PM says Henson photos have no artistic merit | The Australian against bill
I want to use the movie vantage point as my related text. My set text is Snow Falling on Cedars. I just went looking for a text that used the technique of multiple POVs.
Still have yet to see if i can actually write a 5min speech on it though (thats my assess task for this module)

well this is one of the related text i'm using. its about the gaza conflict and all.
i tend to swing towards the visual text cause they're the easiest- don't have to read anything/ watch anything or really do anything just stare at it long enough and you'll find techniques. i love them too cause all you have to do is describe the image and your analysis and techniques fit in into that description.
