I'm going to assume that by 'the Trojan War' you mean the Homeric version of the Trojan war? I wrote an essay on this last semester and tbh it's a pretty in depth topic with a ton of points up for discussion, too many to really go into here. If you have a look at some of these books and articles though you should be pretty well set up.

Wood, M., In Search of the Trojan War (California, 1998).
