You really should not do these older papers. They are outdated. UMAT constantly adds/removes contents in the exam so it'd be better off buying a package from somewhere.
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore
"I haven't even talked to Nick yet. I was trying to track him down this week, which is always fun.. So I called [Nick's brother] Nate, and Nate told me, 'Listen, if you talk to him, tell him I'm looking for him too.'"

What is the UMAT actually out of?
i'm confused. I thought all universities require you also do UMAT in order to get into medicine. So USYD doesn't? Also, does anyone have any UMAT papers that i can buy off them please? Thanks![]()
The umat is a mark out of 120, I think.

Not all uni's require UMAT.
Also, I think some uni's don't even require interview e.g. Tasmania

if you want to prepare for UNSW's interview, start developing your communications skills - talk to people and practise eye contact. Also try not to say 'um', 'yeah' and 'like', talk 'properly'.
If you're a determined, cheerful, optimistic and an approachable person to begin with you're already at an advantage, if this doesn't describe you then try to be more cheerful, optimistic, approachable etc, because I think they like these qualities in their med students, and since medicine is a demanding course these qualities (especially optimism and determination) are are necessity anyway. Don't learn to fake these and then drop them after you've made it in, the healthcare system doesn't need doctors like that, you need to be yourself in the interview.
lol also figure out who your favourite/least favourite teachers are, what type of friends you have, and what your favourite subject is because they'll ask. If you want an interview guide there's a really good one on one of the MSO threads.
Also helps to genuinely want to do medicine
hey can some one please tell me the steps and how long it takes to become a fully qualified doctor and be able to practise as a GP?
ive been looking on a few sites and they all say different things. again i want to become a GP.
2012 HSC:

Maths Extension1
English Advanced
Business Studies
Biology
SOR 2 unit
ATAR AIM: 97+
UMAT AIM: 90 percentile +
5-6 year medical degree, 2years as a JMO (intern then registrar I think), 4-6 year specialisation depending on the speciality
so 11 - 14 years in total.
so to be a gp it will take about 10 years or so.
wow thats longmy teacher told me it only takes 6 years uni then 1 year internship

it's not as bad as you think, you start earning money after you graduate, it's 55K a year or thereabouts for an intern. So technically it takes long to be a GP but you do start earning a somewhat stable living before then. Plus being fully qualified at 30 is not as bad as you would think, imagine a law or commerce graduate working their way up in a firm, they could be stuck in junior positions for a long while, even after thirty.
