First impressions of yr 11

Can't believe how many people hate Geography. XD

I like the majority of the Social Sciences but all of them pale in comparison to Economics in my opinion
I think people hate Australian Geography rather than Geography in general...
Like Australian History is rather boring to most people in comparison to the content in Modern + Ancient History which is more interesting to most people...
Also, the people who end up doing the Asian Combo/5 are usually the ones who hate Geography and History but there are always exceptions.
The scaling for Geography is decent (in fact, better than Business Studies by a bit in terms of scaling but somehow Business Studies is more popular) but isn't as attractive as Chemistry, Physics and Economics so this results to the event that a lot of selective students will avoid choosing it.
Trust me, if Geography had better scaling like the BIG 3 (Chem,Phys,Eco) then a lot of people will claim that they like it and will end up doing it in the HSC!

I guess I am just special then. I loved geography but am doing Adv. English, Mathematics, Mathematics Extension, IPT, Economics, Chemistry and Physics. But yes everyone at my school claims to hate geography! I don't understand why! Only 6 people in yr 11 geo this year.

Same no-one chose Geo in my year. Our yr 10 teacher was particularly pissed since he is head of HSIE and spent the whole of last year dropping (often not very subtle) hints about how HSC Geography is such a great subject...since we were in the top class he acted like it was an obligation of ours to choose it...

Nope, not just you. Our teachers are treating us so differently and actually teaching really well. I think it's because we're all doing subjects that we want to be doing, and they know that. The teacher-student dynamic is really nice.

I have SOR II during sport for week one (today) and every week two it's just study like the rest of the grade excluding those who to choose to do MISA sport.

My school makes year 11'ers do sport. I like it though, sport is fun.

Australian Geography? That is a joke of a subject.

Considering that there are no other geography classes at other schools means that my school must be doing something right, in a grade of 70 ish (don't laugh) there'a about 15 doing it

Lol, sport's only compulsory till the end of term 3. It's fun and relaxing in my opinion because I miss the good old double periods of PE ^^

My school has a double period of sport on Monday afternoons. But I don't have to do it because I have a double period SOR I during that time :P I think like half of yr11 do sport, if they have frees in those two periods its compulsory.. otherwise they'd be doing SOR or Ext English or something.
