also you forget
the fact that
we have no reason
to
invade
iran
1) we don't know where all the nuclear facilities are, the extent of nuclear weaponisation (they may be prepared to retaliate with unproved weapon systems)
2) attack on iran --> iran activates its terrorist networks worldwide (new intafada in israel, attacks in certain western countries) and islamist movements worldwide gain momentum
3) liberal european fuckheads would whine about it, and i don't know whats worse - that or iran getting nukes.
4) iran would retailiate with conventional weapons on nearby US military facilities (afghanistan, iraq, saudi arabia, kuwait, etc.) and most likely on israeli civilian targets. we've never conducted a surgical strike on a country with iran's retaliatory capabilities (and psychopathic leadership)
5) resultant chaos in oil markets --> economic mayhem for everyone
and lots of other reasons why this is a terrible, terrible idea

We should never have stayed as long we have. If America has a beef with Afghanistan and its neighbours, let their soldiers be the ones enforcing their stuffed up foreign policy.
B Commerce I UNSW
- Longest war in Australian history, US history
- "leaving early"
I think the point is to train the Afghan Army to fight their own wars then leave. Might as well finish the whole thing than leave something not done.
Whenever we go into a war with America it seems to be one massive screw up.
Unfortunately US foreign policy is also automatically our foreign policy due to ANZUS and if we are attacked directly we are well and truly screwed.
