This could not be more true. As religion tries to suppress the natural state of human sexuality, we will find more and more people will turn to more harmful outlets of these natural impulses.

The priesthood represses it by maintaining that they stay celibate (is most probably the argument). That said plenty of people are capable of living celibate lives without molesting anyone so idk, maybe that doesnt carry much weight at all.

- Sex before marriage is a sin
- Masturbation is a sin
- Priests may not marry and must remain celibate for their whole life
- Sex must only be for procreation (so either you have sex rarely or you have 20 fucking kids).

And remember, that if you sin you go to hell. Eternal burning damnation. So for the naive believers, this is pretty effective coercion into (mostly) celibacy.

I didn't say that religions think it's okay to rape kids. But...they fucking do it anyway. Go figure. What I said was that organised religion repressing human sexuality leads to many people, especially priests, having no sexual outlet and they may resort to drastic measures to get their orgasm. You are right about the priests choosing this lifestyle, but do remember that many people choose the religious faith and still struggle with the sexual repression, especially orthodox believers. Through fear of hell and God they celibate themselves regardless of their better judgement. One may argue that individuals, and not the organisation, are responsible for this stupidity, but nonetheless, this is but one case against organised religion.

I think part of the point was that its abominable hypocrisy that a single stone be left unturned in trying to bring justice to the victims off these crimes meanwhile the church has spent sums easily in the millions trying to maintain institutionalized homophobic prejudice in our legal system.
