    Overclocking

So I have a 990X with water cooling, it normally runs at about 4GHz
If I over clock it to 5GHz the computer keeps suddenly restarting itself every 10 minuted
anyone know what is the problem?

    Re: Overclocking

actually, i restored default settings from the BIOS and same problem keeps happening
    it just restarts suddenly
it is similar to the blue screen of death but there is no blue screen
i think i'll just format all drivers and install windows again
do u think the problems in with my hard drives/SSD?

    what is a minidumpz?

whaaat? what kind of hardware, it cant be the processor or VGA, so it is either some transistor on the mother board or one of the hard drives.

also, why is there no problem at all in safe mode? but safe mode is boring as hell, no music

fuk, finished trials today ready to play some games and watch a movie and this shiit happened =(

    Re: Overclocking

So you tried to over-clock your computer with the intention of making it perform better when it was already performing at a satisfactory level, and now it's dead?

I hope you learnt your lesson :P

My computer has been overclocked for a year! no problems at all at 5GHz with 10 fans and liquid helium (jkz, just coolant) and it was performing extremely well.
For some reason it started restarting every 10 mins so i thought the problems was the overclocking so I restored defaults but the problems remains. I tried to format it and my hard drives died/not being recognised anyways idk wtf is happening with it, will just take it somewhere and get it fixed.

Well yeah, that's the next logical conclusion when it is still having problems. You thinks someone that knows how to overclock would know this shit.

Who me? Game design and gaming, every little Mhz I can squeeze out will help me not in rendering but just making the app smoother.

Above 4.5Ghz I don't see the point in increasing the voltage and in term increasing temps to get another .2Ghz it's not warranted. My temps jump from 60C CPU @ 1.345v @4.5Ghz to 74C for only .2Ghz more.

Unless I really needed it, I would do it but its not going to do to much of an upgrade.

I can't wait till Ivy Bridge-E or Haswell, I'll finally be able to get a consumer grade 6 core for under $500 the more cores the better for rendering, gaming it's not really going to matter as I have a GTX 670.
