There are only two people doing Ext. Maths at my school, and I am one of them.

The other girl in the class gets 100% for nearly every test (I'm not joking) and I am therefore the bottom.

I average around 65% in exams and tests, even when I put hard work in.

I would like to drop Ext. Maths, but I don't want to miss out on being scaled up for my ATAR.

With the marks I am getting now, would I get scaled up or should I drop it and focus on my other 11 units? (Chemistry, Physics, 2U Maths, Adv English, SOR 1, Visual Arts)

Any help/opinions?

Enough reason to drop it is right there. In the end it's your choice, though If I were to give a yes/no answer, I'd say yes drop.

If you really don't think you can improve then it's best that you do. I'm just thinking though, if the other girl is averaging 100%, then maybe that would scale you up...or could be the other way and you scale her down.

My suggestion is if you drop, focus on Chem and English cause they seem to be relatively good scalers and not too difficult either.

What school is this by the way?

Hahaha.

OP: As there is only two of you in the class, if she is coming first she will automatically get the top mark, and if you are coming last, you will automatically get the bottom mark when it comes to the internal assessment from the HSC. What this means is, essentially, you will get whatever mark you actually get in the HSC exam, the ranks don't really affect it. As far as I can see.

^ also 65% is not neccessarily that bad for a 3 unit exam. Just practice practice practice
