So I was walking to the train station, talking to my friend about our maths exam today.
I'm in Year 10 and just had my first HSC Mathematics (2 unit) paper.
Knowing that I'll do 4-unit maths in Year 12, will the HSC Mathematics exams and assessments count towards my Atar if it is in my top 10 units for the HSC?
THANKS!

PS: I don't mean to sound superior as I call myself an "accelerant" and I didn't intend to brag about this.

Can you justify why it doesn't count?
If you do 4 Unit they dont look at your 2 unit results only, 3 Unit and 4 Unit
So if you accelerate 3 Unit as well the 3 Unit tasks you do will go to your ATAR
However in a lot of schools (like mine) you need quite a high 2 Unit mark to go to 4 unit

I thought that 2 unit didn't count ONLY if you complete 4 unit the same year. Not 100% sure though.

I don't think it'll count, 4U maths is composed of 2U Extension 1 Maths and 2U Extension 2 Maths = 4U. Unless you're only taking Ext1, then it won't count if you're doing 4U... I think.

Your 2 unit accelerated results will appear on your HSC record of achievement, but it will not be counted for your ATAR if you proceed to take Extension 2 later on.

If take 4 units of maths, the courses counting towards your ATAR are Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2. Your accelerated 2 unit marks will be ignored for your ATAR calculation because the 4 units are taken up Extension 1 and Extension 2.

In a nutshell if you do 3 units of maths then the unit values are
- Mathematics (2 units)
- Mathematics Extension 1 (1 unit)
If you do 4 units of maths then the unit values are
- Mathematics Extension 1 (2 units)
- Mathematics Extension 2 (2 units)

I am also accelerated but only in 2u maths. If I do well in my HSC should I risk doing 2u? Cause I would hate to do well then it doesn't count cause I did ex2.

If you're gonna do 4U then 2U won't count at all. Unless you drop it.

Source: I accelerated too and it's not worth any bragging rights :)
