    Mechanics Question from Patel

    Probably same as yours.. 1. we know that resisitance r = kv^2, use inforamtion form the first part to work out k: Total Force in the cirection down the slope: F = gm/30 - kv^2 In particular, F = 0 when v = 30, gives k = gm/27000 The seconf part asks you to find the additional Force F up the...

    HELP! question involving the irrationality of e

    if e = p/q then (e-s_q)*q! = (q-1)!*p - q! * s_n which is an integer (q! * s_n ----> Check term by term) Which contradicts (c), so you can't have e = p/q for some p,q

    Practice for Q7-8

    in case someone's not too familiar with the terms: semiperimeter --> 1/2 the perimeter inradius ---> the radius of the circle with the 2 edges as tangents circumradius --> radius of the circle passing through the 3 corners heights -> perpendicular distance from a corner to the opposite edge

    Easy question

    let T = (x,y) then (x-cp) + p^2 (y - c/p) = 0 x + (p^2)y = 2cp x + (q^2)y = 2cq x = 2c / (p+q) y = 2cpq/(p+q) = 2c / (p+q) = 2c / (p + 1/p) so the line's x=y , x in [-c,c] as p + 1/p >= 2 or p + 1/p <= -2 EDIT: thought about it again if we allow p = q then it's the above line segment + 2...
