Does anyone regret attending the school that they attended?

I would have no idea, since I went to a comprehensive public school (no one I know studied overseas except for maybe a semester of exchange, and even that's rare)

Does anyone regret attending the school that they attended?

As the others have said, there's a good mix of everyone in most unis, including USYD. But in the more difficult courses, you tend to find most students coming from private or selective school backgrounds (I'd say evenly split), but very rarely from public comprehensive schools. Of the people who...

Does anyone regret attending the school that they attended?

Glad you know it! At uni nobody knows my school and always assumes I'm mispronouncing Caringbah

Carlingford High. It's public and comprehensive, but I'm very happy to have gone there.

    UAC application help please :(

Based on the info given, that sounds like a technical glitch. Perhaps contact UAC or USYD's student centre to confirm that this is not your problem. As far as I'm aware, 2U maths is really the only admission requirement.

OLMC has a good maths faculty, unless if something has changed since I've last heard of it

    Help with choosing university

This isn't necessarily USYD specific, but not every arts unit has an exam. In fact, many arts units don't have one - maybe a take-home exam/essay at most. You'll know this beforehand, so you can choose units which don't have exams. That said, don't be afraid of exams - you have to do them at...

HSC graduates: beware of predatory tutoring businesses

Thanks for taking the time to write this. And it definitely sounds like a pretty shitty time, and your points are very reasonable. However, because point (3) has come up repeatedly (in various degrees of aggression, might I add!), I think it is necessary to note that the point about tutors not...

Should I study economics in university?

This could definitely be true! It's just that from my experiences at USYD, economics majors are often required to take units like econometrics and a fair amount of the first year economics units, which are superfluous to a commerce student (unless the said student plans on majoring in...

Seriously - why the hell is English compulsory?

already did I genuinely think this 100% is the result of the trash assessment structure for English. In enforcing the 40 min handwritten essay, it robs students of the opportunity to really reflect and think about what they're writing and in turn the text itself. (Somewhat similar to the...

Seriously - why the hell is English compulsory?

I think English is an important subject and being able to analyse text and compose well-written arguments is a skill that you'll definitely see again in uni, and elsewhere in your adult life. However, I think the most frustrating aspect of English is the way that assessments are done; 40...

HSC graduates: beware of predatory tutoring businesses

This is fair, and the truth of the matter of this Delta-specific issue is up in the air. For example, I actually wasn't told that Delta threatened the admin with legal actions - I was given the account that Delta sued the admin. This was yesterday (Tuesday), but Sunday. But I corrected the...

    ANU ADV Comp Sci/Econ

Not many people who browse this forum have experiences with ANU. As for the combined comp sci and economics degree, I'll give my opinions, since I did 2.5 years of economics at USYD and completing a comp sci minor. Firstly, I don't believe the two subject areas are complimentary at all. In your...
