well, you just did it without logs, so...

    Simple Graphs question

    1. yes, it is the discriminant of a quadratic do you know calculus yet? 2. a rectangular hyperbola is one where the asymptotes are perpendicular (it's a type of hyperbola) the only reason to have xy positive is so it's always in the same quadrants (I would think) 3. when adding the...

    [20 Questions] Trigonometry, Locus&Parabola, Polynomials + More! :(

@jetblack: does a height of 1.172m make sense, considering the person is 1.8m tall? your answer is correct (I think) right up until you put it into the quadratic formula (should be 2a, not a2 as your denominator)

complex question locus :( - help needed

let z=x+iy you get |4ixy|<4 |xy|<1 which is just the area between the hyperbolas y=1/x, and y=-1/x

    Extension II Mathematics Game

You have n different colour paints (an unlimited amount of each paint), and m objects. You wish to paint each object with a certain colour. In how many ways can this be done if each object is: a)distinct (ie. number of permutations) b)not distinct (ie. number of combinations)

    Logs Differentiation/integration help!

your working is correct so far but what are you trying to solve for? (what is the question asking)

    Mathematics /not sure

well you could just try to teach yourself and see how that goes, and ask questions here if you don't get something. most of the material you learn is fairly simple (but questions can be hard) and i'm pretty sure you can do bridging courses at uni can't you?

    Logs Differentiation/integration help!

    1. just use chain rule as per usual 2. differentiate with product rule, equate to zero 3. simplify first using log law 4. divide each term by x2 and integrate each individually

    Calculus: Curve sketching

yeah just use the product rule for the first two + factorise to find the stat. points it shouldn't give you anything weird for 3, you have an asymptote at x=2 (since domain is all real x, x=/=2 differentiate with product/quotient rule to get the stat points + whether they're max/min, and to see...

Solving cubic with a value other than one

lol^ yeah only do sum/product if the question gives you some information regarding those

Solving cubic with a value other than one

probably not any easy way to solve that cubic. did you get it from somewhere that told you to solve it, or just make it up? (looks like you just made it up actually) so you would need to use cubic formula or something
  14. L

Solving cubic with a value other than one

^ that's real, but not necessarily rational (Remember a rational number has to be able to be written as a fraction, p/q where p and q are integers)
  15. L

    Trig Function Q.

lol that's not how integration works not even the correct value for sin[pi] \int sinxdx = -cosx + C
  16. L

Solving cubic with a value other than one

well..it's ruled out because it's not a factor of 24
  17. L

Solving cubic with a value other than one

it can't be 7, but it can be any of those divided by 7 ^
  18. L

Solving cubic with a value other than one

factor has to be in the form +-a/b, where a is a factor of 24 and b is a factor of 7 have a go at proving that in the general case :) (being, that in a polynomial with integer coefficients, any rational factor will be in the form +-a/b where a is a factor of the constant, b is a factor of the...
