To drop from Commerce/Law to a single degree in Commerce..yay or nay?

+1 Didn't you already raise this before? Don't mean to sound rude but other than what was said (in other thread), there is nothing else anyone can add.

    Language major in B Comm

    Best to ask ASB.

To drop law after LAWS1052 or LAWS1061?

TBH I think you know the answer to this. If you don't intend to study law for another 5 years, why would you put yourself through it? Just do straight Commerce, graduate after 3 years, find a job and then work. You will also have less debt to pay. My friend was in a similar position to you and...

timetable is out for sem2 2014

That is when the first group of students can enrol. It doesn't necessarily mean you will enrol that day. As you are a first year, it is very unlikely that you will enrol then.

    Getting involved...

Good luck with that. Yes getting involved with the societies through volunteering makes your name known and can boost your chance of getting subcom next year. Facing failures early in your degree is quite common actually. You just got to remember the marking scheme at uni is different to high...

    Getting involved...

The purpose of subcommittees is for you to get involve, gain some experience and get to know more about the society. They do not really look for experience. They will teach and train you. They already have experienced people in the position of Directors, Vice Presidents etc. Most of the time...

Should I ditch combined law to do single commerce? Please help me in my major dilemma

Re: Should I ditch combined law to do single commerce? Please help me in my major dil If you are certain on Commerce, there is no real point sticking around with law. It will probably cause you more harm than good. On a side note if you are finding the LLB programme difficult I would not...

I am in first year and I want to go on exchange next semester. Is it possible?

Um you can by not taking your law courses and instead take commerce courses only. It however, means you will stuff up your law study plan :(

Dropping down from Commerce/Law to single Commerce...parents wont allow it!

For law some courses do get harder and some are more black letter law. Less historical crap and more straight forward :)

Dropping down from Commerce/Law to single Commerce...parents wont allow it!

I think just do your readings and attend revision classes (towards end of sem) when senior students run them. Still attend your current class. I know you don't like class discussions but try to participate at least once a lesson or once every two lessons. You get marks for class participation...

Dropping down from Commerce/Law to single Commerce...parents wont allow it!

If you don't enjoy doing law, then there is probably no point forcing yourself to do it. Maybe find a better time to speak to your parents about it. As some other people have said, it is ultimately your decision what you choose to do and it is your right to choose it. If you feel like dropping...

I am in first year and I want to go on exchange next semester. Is it possible?

^I dont think so for Com/Law. You need to be at the stage of doing electives. So for Com/Law that would be 3rd Year for Commerce and 4th Year for Law.

    LAWS1052 and LAWS1141 2014 notes?

Given that it is an open book exam. You are better off writing your own notes so you know better where to look at when you have to refer to your notes.

Transfer to Comm/Law UNSW to Comm/Arts USYD. Requirements? Will I get in?

I always say this to people who say they hate law after doing 1 semester of law. Foundations of Law (now called Introducing Law & Justice) is not even a proper law course. It does not reflect what the rest of the law degree will be like. Have you got involved with mooting? negotiations? Perhaps...

Opinions on these law modules ?

The Essential Advocate is more to develop your advocacy skills. You get marked for doing it rather than how well you do it. The lecturer will give you feedback (who is a Magistrate by the way). Financial Economcis and Law is designed for someone who hasn't done finance before. So it's not too...

Opinions on these law modules ?

Law of Banking was extremely easy before. However the lecturer has now changed and I am not too sure. I was going to do it but I dropped it. Financial Economics and Law is mostly finance related stuff. It also involves doing basic financial related calculations. Intellectual Property 1 is...
