I've also had a lecturer tell someone off for using a phone lol She said to the student: "unless you're tweeting about the 7 Ps of marketing, can you please put your phone away?"

Well most wouldn't mind small quiet conversation, but if someone is loud or if it's a large group of people then the lecturer will say something. And Westcott is no joke, seriously lol.

If you have the head Lecturer then more often than not those noisy, obnoxious people will get called out and embarrassed in front of everyone. Most lecturers have the "no nonsense" attitude, but the head Lecturer will definitely be the most strict when it comes to people like that. If you're...

I haven't really been in touch with my friends from HS, so I'd say they are close.

    People Planet Units

Is it a required unit for your degree though? If it is then it won't count for People/Planet, however if it's not then you can definitely do it. If you want to change it, go to ask.mq.edu and lodge an enquiry so the enrollment team can set it as your desired People/Planet unit in your course...

    lectures compulsory???

I've done those units last year and those lectures are not compulsory. However I definitely recommend going to the ECON111 and STAT170 lectures. As for tutorials, MKTG101 and ECON111 are compulsory. But last semester they did not record attendance for the STAT170 tutorials.

Everyone I have met at MQ has been very friendly and nice. During my first week everyone that I approached (usually finding my tut rooms) were more than happy to help me.

Well lectures and tutorials start 5 mins after the hour and finish 5 mins before the hour, so it's actually a 10 mins gap. Unless your class is literally on the other side of Uni it shouldn't be too bad.... Otherwise you'll have to walk really fast or run.

    Is this a good timetable?

It doesn't look too bad but your Monday definitely doesn't look very convenient.

    Is this a good timetable?

As for your previous questions about changing times during the semester, no you cannot. Most unit co-ordinars will let you change tutorials during week1, and maybe week 2 at the latest. And ray_bann is right, students from other Universities are usually confusing and their "advice" isn't really...

    Buying text books !

The elements book was in my opinion completely useless for ACST101, all the information you needed for elements was in the lecture notes. On the other hand I thought the elements book was very useful for practice & revision.

I'm not too sure I can answer your first question correctly, as I'm not familiar with double degrees. For your second question it means you choose 9cp (all other than POL399) as that is your Capstone unit.

When do new classes open up?

    1. In my experience, the Unit Co-ordinator usually opened up new classes around week 1. Also do check back each day, they might open up new times before the semester starts. 2. Yes, keep logging back in there is definitely a chance (however small it may be) that someone has changed their class...
