binomial theorem.. in the expansion of... the coefficients bla bla bla

    by letting b be the subject of 5b + 3a = 9 ---1 you sub it into 10b^2 + 15ab + 3a^2 = 12 then you get a farely messy quadratic the final simplified version is 4b^2 - 9b - 9 therefore b = 3 or -0.75 subbing into 1: you get a = -2 or 4.25

binomial theorem.. in the expansion of... the coefficients bla bla bla

i cant be bothered writing the whole expansion out but you pretty much expand both binomials and see what multiplies together to give you x^6 and x^7 This is what i got(although my workings a bit messy so i might have missed something): for x^7 coefficients are: 3C0 x 5C1 b + 3C1 x 5C0a = 5b...

How else is he gonna build up street cred? Also @ninetypercent: I've seen you on the ext1 forums, have you learnt the entire yr12 3U course even before Yr12 has started?

    simple harmonic motion

1.since the questions specifies its 5m away from its centre of motion you can ignore b 2.usually you work out whether to take the positive/negative root when the questions gives you a result e.g. the question states when x = 3 v = -5 you would put this into your equation and see whether the...

    Farewell Year 11

I was merely pointing out that if they fail their HSC their hopes and dreams arent all shattered. Also technically speaking time indeed does slow down significantly if we are travelling at relativistic speeds. :P

    simple harmonic motion

    Period = 6 therefore 2pi/n = 6 therefore n = pi/3 a = 8 using the general form v^2 = n^2(a^2 - x^2) v^2 = (pi/3)^2(8^2 - 5^2) = 42.768.. therefore v = +/- 6.5397... cm/s not sure why answer is negative though... a = -n^2x = - (pi/3)^2 x 5 = - 5.4831 cm/s

    Farewell Year 11

There are various alternate entry schemes into university. Alternativley, if you dont get into the course you want to, you can always get into a lower related course and work your way up from there. The HSC is not some absolute test that decides your destiny. Where there' s a will there's always...

How much preliminary physics knowledge do we need to retain for the HSC?

That advice is pretty much correct but I think you also need to know the basics of interference and diffraction and how this is a wave property and also you definitely need to know about electric fields and magnetic fields but you do go over this again so I wouldnt worry too much

    Critique my answer

Since our school never finished this topic I had to teach myself the standard model and so I was wandering if my response to this dotpoint was correct. Q: Discuss the key features and the components of the standard model of matter, including quarks and leptons A: The standard model is a theory...

    Physics to Bio?

The main topic that has electricity is motors and generators but is a very different use of electricity than a simple circuit. Also there is almost no work on waves besides wave-particle duality which is actually pretty cool(is light a wave or a particle?) I think one of the major things that...

    Physics to Bio?

Can't speak for bio but having done the year 12 physics course stick with it. It gets so much more interesting than speed = distance/time especially relativity, which is pretty god damn interesting. + it scales decently and is a pretty easy subject
