Yeah my school didn't do this. They'd have them on the school account yearly to let people know they were an option, but they didn't actually chase people who opted to not pay the voluntary $66 a year or whatever. They didn't check that stuff on signing out, just that you gave your textbooks back.

As yr 11 have no bearing on hsc results, I'd say continuing with the HSC is a much wiser option. IB is tough and no easy stretch over the hsc-you should continue moving forward with education and not repeating yr 11.

What is your ATAR goal? Is dropping Business in your best interest to achieve your goal? Or should you keep it because it should possibly contribute?

ATAR can help as it's indicative of academics, but other attributes are really valued at college. I know I spoke more about Ormond and Queens in PM-but not necessarily, people from my old comprehensive public high school go to both. Though Ormond had a few more privates than the others iirc...

There's normally about 8-9 merits for Science, but don't be too concerned about getting only an offer Entry, they sometimes bump people up to Merit once results come out and they know your scores. Also anyone someone with a straight out merit can be bumped up to outstanding students scholarship...

Not necessarily. I know a lot of bright kids through NYSF, who got 99.5+ ATARs whilst going overseas. In fact, a few years back one of the guys went overseas to Germany around July-Aug time to RSI which was a six week trip and came back and got a 99.95. And his case wasn't isolated as well...
