Is uni like the HSC studying wise?

I'd say more no than yes tbh. Only thing HS may teach you is how to work hard if you had to in HS to get the marks you have to. But the studying mentality/skill set is very different.

Is repeating year 11 a good idea?

Oh that's a tricky one, for HSC kids I always harp on about how repeating yr 11 is a waste, but ACT yr11/12 both years count right? Or at least you need to set your yr11 subs to be able to achieve enough 'majors' for an ATAR? Definitely talk to many teachers/career advisors and what their input...

Are you proud of going to your school?

Pretty dodge thing to do mate, generalizing. Also considering selectives don't really exist outside Sydney... Cough, cough it's not always a decision of not applying themselves to their education. People can still be incredibly applied to education. RE: Point above. There may be reasons they...

Are you proud of going to your school?

I am proud of my old school, it's a rank most here would scorn at and a place most would not be able to locate on a map. But hey, it gave me a lot of opportunities(like overseas trips, public speaking/debating), I had a fantastic time, had some great teachers, met some great people...spending...

    ATAR of 60-65?

Percentages don't mean much, what about rankings? If you perform ok externally, your school ranking is ok so it's definitely still feasible.

University Questions from a current Yr 12 student....

    1. Really depends. I moved 7 hrs away from hometown whilst most moved 3 hrs away in the opposite direction, so I probably don't have much contact with people from HS (beyond fb friends) compared to people who live in the same city. 10 hrs is quite a jump, but if you make effort to stay in...

Semester 2 USYD Chatter Thread 2013

Don't think the illusion could work with a quiz, lab summary and big ass exam this week :P I'm imaginative, but not that so. Week 13, major report due and a lab-book due that is woefully out of date. STUVAC-Major group work essay due (though I'd like to have that done end of wk 13) Exams-...

    St John's College Interview

Hey there, I was also a rural student so I did college interviews over phone/skype depending. And I am a current USYD college student. I did not apply for St Johns, so I do not know the *exact* interview process there. General Tips: *Be confident *Listen to the questions carefully so as to...
